Patent number: 8514053Abstract: An anti-theft system for a vehicle that registers ID information at the time of replacement of a lock controller. A portable device, such as a key, has exclusive ID information. A lock controller locks or unlocks a control target device according to an authentication result of the portable device. An auxiliary controller transmits and receives data to and from the lock controller and stores the ID information of the portable device as backup data. The lock controller receives the ID information from the auxiliary controller, and transmits a response requiring signal for searching the portable device which has the ID information received from the auxiliary controller and is present within a predetermined detection range. Then, the lock controller stores the ID information of the portable device which has transmitted a response signal to the response requiring signal.Type: GrantFiled: July 5, 2007Date of Patent: August 20, 2013Assignee: Yamaha Hatsudoki Kabushiki KaishaInventor: Sachio Ito

Patent number: 7889051Abstract: Location-Based Addressing (LBA) is a method of controlling and commissioning networked lighting devices. The lighting devices communicate over a wireless network using radio frequency communication protocols. The lighting devices are commissioned or grouped based on their respective locations in a building floor plan or a building architecture. The lighting devices are commissioned to respond to radio frequency communications that correspond to their respective locations. This imposed location-based architecture reduces the amount of transmitted data required to control the lighting devices and, thus, reduces the radio bandwidth required to control the lighting devices. In other words, controlling devices “multicast” instructions and controlled devices “listen” for instructions and act only upon instructions that correspond to their respective location. Hand shaking or two-way communication between the controlling devices and the controlled devices is not required.Type: GrantFiled: September 3, 2004Date of Patent: February 15, 2011Assignee: The Watt Stopper IncInventors: Richard R. Publication number: 20070159296Abstract: A radio frequency (RF)-mode temporary opening method and device in home network environments. The RF-mode temporary door lock opening method includes transmitting to a communication terminal an access allowance confirmation message and information on an access card to be temporarily issued; receiving an access allowance approval message from the communication terminal; and transmitting to a home gateway the information on the access card in order to register in a door lock the information on the access card.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 8, 2006Publication date: July 12, 2007Inventors: Jae-gap Lee, Dong-yun Hwang

Patent number: 7215238Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for a combined vehicle keyless entry and garage door (GD) opener fob. The fob comprises a receiver, transmitter, processor, memory, user activated function switches, and preferably a display. In a GD function learn mode, the fob memorizes the signal parameters of a GD activate signal received directly from a nearby GD opener. In the normal GD operate mode, the fob transmits a replica of the GD activate signal using the learned signal parameters stored in the memory. The optional display preferably tells the user that the learn mode is active, prompts the user to operate the nearby GD opener during the learn mode, indicates whether the learn operation was successful or not and shows when the fob has returned to normal (non-learn mode) operation. The GD modes of the fob are entirely self-contained and do not depend upon the vehicle electronics system.Type: GrantFiled: May 21, 2004Date of Patent: May 8, 2007Assignee: General Motors CorporationInventors: M. Patent number: 7193502Abstract: An operating system for a motorized barrier includes an operator for controlling movement of the barrier between various positions and an accessory. The system includes a wall station transmitter, a wireless keyless entry transmitter and/or a portable remote transmitter. The system also includes an accessory device such as a light fixture or switch that controls a load, wherein the device is capable of also receiving wireless signals to control the fixture or the load. The system allows for pre-storing of an operator serial number that is needed to communicate with the accessory devices. The operator serial number may also be randomly derived from a timer or by parsing a serial number generated by one of the transmitters.Type: GrantFiled: March 6, 2004Date of Patent: March 20, 2007Assignee: Wayne-Dalton Corp.Inventors: Paul J. Vandrunen, James S. Murray

Patent number: 7173514Abstract: A modifiable transmitter is used with an operator to control a position of a barrier. The operator includes a controller for comparing radio frequency transmissions received with stored serial numbers so that the controller can move the barrier when a radio frequency transmission matches any one of the stored serial numbers. The transmitter includes a housing that carries an encoder. A function button is carried by the housing, wherein actuation of the button generates in a first non-standard way a new serial number that can be learned by the controller to allow the modifiable transmitter to move the barrier by emitting the radio frequency transmission. A second non-standard way, which can only be implemented after use of the first non-standard way, may also be used to generate a new serial number. A restricted access button may also be activated to generate a new serial number.Type: GrantFiled: September 10, 2004Date of Patent: February 6, 2007Assignee: Wayne-Dalton Corp.Inventors: Willis J. Patent number: 7170998Abstract: A door access control and key management system is disclosed, in which a number of doors and door users are involved. The system comprises a door/key administering system and a door lock/control assembly mounted on each door, which are communicatively interconnected with each other via a communications network. The door/key administering system serves to store a key unique to each of the users, store an identification code unique to each of the doors, and assign access authorization to at least one user for each door. The door lock/control assembly serves to read the key presented by the user, verify that the key has access authorization, and operate the door in response to the authorization for access. Each user can gain access to the doors authorized to the user with a unique key and each door can provide access to the user or users assigned thereto.Type: GrantFiled: October 25, 2001Date of Patent: January 30, 2007Assignee: LochIsle Inc.Inventors: Gavin A. Patent number: 7164213Abstract: For registering or updating the information of second identification codes stored in a theft prevention apparatus when the theft prevention apparatus is replaced, a third identification code sent from a third apparatus which is mounted in a motor vehicle is checked against a third identification code stored in the theft prevention apparatus, and must be identical thereto. Even if a third party prepares and installs an ignition key and a theft prevention apparatus of its own on the motor vehicle, the third identification code is not verified, and hence the information of second identification codes cannot be equalized.Type: GrantFiled: March 7, 2006Date of Patent: January 16, 2007Assignee: Honda Motor Co., Ltd.Inventors: Kentaro Yoshimura, Tomoo Watanabe

Patent number: 7145434Abstract: An apparatus and a method for use with an electronic locking system is provided. At least one key is selected in order to have access to at least one lock. This key to lock relationship is transferred to a memory of the key. The key is presented to the lock and at least a portion of the key to lock relationship from the key is transferred to a memory of the lock. This transfer updates the memory of the key to lock relationships in the lock. The update of the memory in the lock is noted in the memory of the key. The key may then be placed in communication with a computer so that at least a portion of the memory of the key is transferred to a database in the computer. This transfer updates the database in order to reflect the fact that the memory of the lock has been updated and completed.Type: GrantFiled: April 21, 2003Date of Patent: December 5, 2006Assignee: Compx International Inc.Inventors: Mitchell S.
