  • Patent number: 10013830
Abstract: Provided is a smartkey system for reducing battery consumption. The smartkey system in a sleep mode wakes up at every certain interval, and first checks whether there is a fob near a vehicle. Only when there is the fob near the vehicle, the smartkey system receives authentication information from the fob to authenticate the fob. Therefore, an authentication operation is not performed when there is no fob near the vehicle, and thus, a wakeup time is shortened, thereby reducing an amount of dark current consumed by the vehicle. Moreover, the wakeup time of the smartkey system is shortened, thus securing a time margin that enables an additional operation to be performed in the sleep mode.

Abstract: A battery-powered trigger-locking device, which is configured to be disposed on a gun with a trigger for firing, includes a data receiver, a data memory and a logic device for determining whether data received by the receiver is the same, or substantially the same, as data stored in the memory. If a data match is indicated, the logic device causes an electromagnetic device to move a trigger-locking member to an unlocked position, permitting the gun to be fired. A separate electronic gun key is provided to transmit gun unlock data to the data receiver of the trigger-locking device. This gun unlock data may be a password, a long pseudo-random number or biologic data identifying the gun owner or some other person who is licensed or otherwise authorized to fire the gun.

Abstract: An item of luggage can communicate with a mobile terminal via NFC protocol. A first NFC reader is attached to the luggage item. The first NFC reader includes a reading unit and a memory. The reading unit receives object identification information from an NFC tag attached to every object brought into the near field of the luggage item, and stores the object identification information in the memory. When the mobile terminal is itself brought into the near field of the luggage item, the mobile terminal is given the stored object identification information from the memory, and the object identification information read by the mobile terminal is output for the information of a user.

Abstract: An electronic lockbox system allows both sales agents and sales prospects to communicate either with the lockbox, or with the central clearinghouse computer. Contextual data then is provided to the sales prospect while the prospect is visiting a specific property that is the site of a lockbox installation. Both the agent and the prospect use smart devices, such as smart phones, that have both wide area network capability and low power radio capability. In other situations, contextual data can be sent to a user having a smart device, in which that contextual data pertains to at least one human occupant of the specific property where that lockbox has been installed, which can be useful where a medical caregiver arrives to visit a human occupant of a specific property that is protected by the electronic lockbox.

Abstract: A carrier wave is selected based on a state of a target device such as a vehicle. A polling signal is generated using the selected carrier wave for transmission from the target device for receipt by a portable controller. A sinusoidal carrier wave is selected when the target device is in a state that is more sensitive to electrical noise interference caused by the polling signal being generated using the carrier wave than to electrical energy consumed in generating the polling signal using the carrier wave. A non-sinusoidal periodic carrier wave is selected when the target device is in a state that is more sensitive to electrical energy consumed in generating the polling signal using the carrier wave than to electrical noise interference caused by the polling signal being generated using the carrier wave.
