  • Patent number: 9530327
Abstract: Management of a user's continued attention to distance learning content using a general purpose computer having a central processing unit, an operating system configured to run multiple program applications concurrently, and a player suitable for presenting the distance learning content. A distance learning module comprises code executable on the central processing unit, as one of the multiple program applications. The distance learning module is operable to interrupt a presentation of the distance learning content at the player to the user in response to prescribed events concerning another one of the multiple program applications. A method executing on a computer that can concurrently run multiple applications identifies events concerning an application other than the distance learning application, processes the identified events so as to identify a prescribed event among the identified events, and interrupts the presentation of the distance learning content in response to the prescribed event.

  • Patent number: 9530042
Abstract: The method for fingerprint classification uses a local gradient directional binary pattern (LGDBP) descriptor. The method acquires digital images of fingerprints from a scanner or the like, and the LGDBP descriptors corresponding to the directional ridge patterns are calculated. Using the LGDBP descriptors as a fingerprint representation, an extreme learning machine neural network with a radial basis function kernel may is used to reduce substantially the search space to a predefined number of classes of known fingerprints to be searched to identify the fingerprint.

  • Patent number: 9459731
Abstract: External mobile device sensors may be provided that are configured to manage sensory information associated with motion of objects external to the mobile device. In some examples, the object motion may be detected independent of contact with the device. In some examples, a device may include a screen with a first sensor (e.g., a touch sensor). The device may also include at least a second sensor external to the screen. Instructions may be executed by a processor of the device to at least determine when an object is hovering over a first graphical user interface (GUI) element of the screen. Additionally, in some cases, a second GUI element may be provided on the screen such that the second GUI element is rendered on the screen adjacent to a location under the hovering object.

Abstract: Methods and electronic devices configured to grant access to a file, and of enabling passcode protection for a file. The methods may include displaying file icons corresponding to the files. Upon receiving a selection of one of the displayed files, a request for the passcode is presented to the user if the selected application is protected. If the application is not protected, the file is accessed without receiving the passcode. • Patent number: 9436818
Abstract: A system of credential management and identity verification includes a portable input device and an application that, when executed on the input device, authenticates a user of the input device and provides associated credentials to a computing device. The application detects a request for credentials presented by a proximate computing device. Then, the application alerts a user of the computing device to confirm his identity by submitting one of a biometric or non-biometric authenticating input to the input device. The authenticating input is received by the input device and used to verify the identity of the user. If the identity is verified, the application transmits the associated encrypted credentials and mask data to the computing device. The input device may be a pointing device connected wirelessly or via wired connection to the computer. User authentication data is provided to the input device at an initial or predetermined time.
