Abstract: The present invention extends to systems and methods for notifying entities of relevant events. An entity defines a rule formula that is triggered when one or more detected events match the rule formula including defining one or more event types and one or more locations types. A boundary associated with a selected location type is also received along with a monitoring area. The received elements are combined into the rule formula notification preferences are associated with the defined rule. One or more events are detected and then compared to the rule formula to determine if the combination of one or more event types occurred within the boundary of the one or more location types within the area.

Abstract: A proximity beacon signal transmitted by a network device-coupled proximity beacon transmitter is received at a network device. A RSSI reporting message is generated at the network device based on the proximity beacon signal. A position of the network device-coupled proximity beacon transmitter with respect to the network device is determined using the RSSI reporting message. A location of the network device within a region is determined using the RSSI reporting message and network device map data for the region. The location of the network device-coupled proximity beacon transmitter in the region is determined based on the position of the network device-coupled proximity beacon transmitter with respect to the network device and the location of the network device within the region.

Abstract: A user equipment (e.g., mobile device) can determine whether a first mobile code stored on the user equipment matches a second mobile code received from a mobile network to which the user equipment is connected. In response to a determination indicating that the first mobile code and the second mobile code match, the user equipment can activate a Wi-Fi calling module on the user equipment to connect to an evolved packet data gateway device in the mobile network that is used for routing voice over internet protocol packets. In response to a dialed number being determined not to relate to an emergency call, the user equipment can initiate the call via a Wi-Fi calling module, and transmit a voice over internet protocol packet related to the call via a cellular data connection to the evolved packet data gateway device.

Each positioning transceiver has a second identification code, and further includes a receiving device and a wireless transceiver. The receiving device movably receives the first identification and demodulates the first identification code. The wireless transceiver transmits the first and the second identification codes to a receiving terminal. The server is coupled to the at least one positioning transceiver via the receiving terminal, and obtains the first and the second identification codes so as to position the at least one positioning transceiver in a space defined by the at least one luminaire.

Abstract: The disclosure relates in some aspects to location reporting and paging for satellite communication. In one aspect, the disclosure relates to a user terminal (UT) sending a message to report information about the UT's location. A threshold may be used to control whether (e.g., when) the UT reports its location. The location information may be used to enforce area (e.g., country) restrictions for the UT. In one aspect, the disclosure relates to forwarding paging messages between network access controllers. For example, a network access controller that is not able to page a UT may forward a paging message to another network access controller. In one aspect, the disclosure relates to a list of paging areas that indicates where a UT need not perform a paging area update.

Abstract: A tracking system determines a location of a tracking device associated with a user using one or more access points at the location. Each access point at the location is configured to detect and couple with the tracking device when the tracking device is within a communicative range of the access point. An access point provides updates on the tracking device's presence, as well as the tracking device's arrival to and departure from the communicative range of the access point, to a tracking server. The tracking server determines, from these updates, whether the tracking device is at the location. The user may be notified, via a mobile device, of the tracking device's location.
