  • Patent number: 10847031
Abstract: One or more techniques and/or systems are provided for estimating parking occupancy. For a paid parking period, parking meter transaction data may be acquired for a parking meter encompassed by a zone of one or more parking spaces. The parking meter transaction data may be evaluated to determine status data, such as an estimation of whether one or more parking spaces are available, occupied, and/or will become available. A parking occupancy, indicative of a likelihood of available parking spaces, may be estimated based upon the status data. For a free parking period, the parking occupancy may be estimated based upon vehicle flow data that is indicative of vehicles entering, parking, and/or leaving the one or more parking spaces. In this way, the parking occupancy may be provided to a driver to mitigate wasted time and/or gas otherwise spent searching for an available parking space.

Abstract: A scalable tag detection, location, tracking, recovery, and data collection system uses a social network of mobile devices, such as smartphones, as readers, to find lost or stolen goods that are tagged, or to read data or sensor values from tags at remote locations. A network service apparatus compiles IDs of tags of interest into a data structure representing a subset of all tagged items, and transmits the data structure information to the participating mobile devices. Each mobile device application can receive tag transmissions when in proximity to any tag. The mobile device processes received tags with the filter to determine if they are part of the composition of the data structure and thus a tag of interest. Abstract: A mobile device is used to operate, different external devices. The mobile device may include a phone, smart watch, and smart glasses. The mobile device searches for, the broadcasting of the external devices operating control panel. When the mobile device is in the vicinity, of one of the external devices, the mobile device, automatically connects to and communicates, with the external device. The device's operating control panel is downloaded to the mobile device. The panel is shown on the mobile device's display. The user operates the external device, by inputting into the shown control panel. Different devices can be operated by phone, such as, elevators, and room lights, etc. The mobile device reduces the transference of bacteria to a user, by reducing touch input into multiuser displays. Pre-set external device settings can be stored on the mobile device, and can be automatically downloaded to the associated external device.

Abstract: Embodiments of the invention generate metrics quantifying the mobility of a mobile device without persisting information related to the device's specific location at any given time. Specifically, at multiple intervals, a value of a mobility metric is computed based on the distance between the current location of the mobile device and a previously identified origin location of the mobile device. The values of the mobility metric computed over a period of time quantify the overall mobility of the mobile device. The mobility metric does not provide any information regarding the specific location of the mobile device at any given time.

Abstract: An inventive animal collar device is described herein that monitors location, physiological information and/or environmental information relating to an animal wearing the device. The collar may include multiple sensors and other electrical components embedded within the collar body that provide means for: tracking and monitoring an animal's activity and whereabouts, increasing visibility of the collar, and storing and retrieving animal, environment and system information. The collar may implement one or more wired or wireless communication devices so that the collar may transmit data to a connected computing device. The collar may also include one or more antennas to send and/or receive location information associated with the device. The collar may include a removable module that attaches to the collar via a module dock. The removable module may include any of the electronic components and may allow for the collar body to remain on the animal during information transfer and/or charging.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and apparatuses for locating parking spaces are disclosed. According to one method, a request is received from a user of a vehicle to locate a space; the location of the user is determined; a database comprising spaces within a geographic region is accessed; from the database, a subset of spaces within the geographic region is identified, the subset comprising user-specific spaces; a determination is made regarding the availability of the user-specific spaces; and if a user-specific space is available, a transmission is initiated, intended for the user, providing the location of at least one available space. The systems, methods, and apparatus may be used to locate free spaces, may allow users to indicate when they are vacating a space to enable other users to access the space via a “park it forward” approach, and may assign available spaces to users based on an equitable prioritization protocol.

Abstract: Lighting systems and methods for lighting fixture location mapping, for example, using a combination of photo sensing and/or other type of signaling, such as radiofrequency (RF) signaling is provided. The lighting systems may map a plurality of lighting fixtures to a plurality of spatial locations in a floor plan using the signal generating capabilities and sensors that are located within each of the lighting fixtures. The commissioning of the lighting fixtures may be automatically determined using a control system without significant manual intervention. In particular, the lighting fixtures may be mapped to their respective spatial locations by applying a heuristic analysis of strength of signals emitted and received between light fixtures and distances as provided in a building plan between spatial locations to which the light fixtures may be correlated.
