Abstract: RFID devices are provided for improving the performance of electronic surveillance article systems. The RFID devices may be modified in any of a number of ways to decrease their peak sensitivity and increase their bandwidth, thereby stabilizing their read range. The performance of an RFID device will depend on the nature of the article to which it is associated, such that the nature of the article to which the RFID device is to be associated may be factored into the design of the RFID device to equalize the performance at an operating frequency of RFID devices associated with different articles. By reducing the peak sensitivity and increasing the bandwidth of RFID devices in an electronic article surveillance system, the size of a transition zone between two read zones of the system may be reduced.

  • Patent number: 12155433
Abstract: An antenna alignment device may have a camera that takes a line-of-sight image. For an antenna alignment device directed to a boresight of an antenna, the line-of-sight image is the “view” from the antenna to the surrounding environment. An antenna radiation pattern, based on the antenna type, may be overlaid on the line-of-sight image. A technician and or other user can therefore observe the radiation pattern vis-à-vis the surrounding environment. Therefore, it can be determined during the initial alignment stage, whether the antenna alignment may have to be changed to account for structures and or other blockages in the surrounding environment rather than just relying antenna alignment based on an ideal model site. The overlaying also speeds up troubleshooting as it can be used to provide clear and specific alignment instructions prior to deploying crew to the antenna site.

Abstract: Systems and methods for tracking a subject using radio-frequency identification (RFID). In an embodiment, an antenna array comprising a plurality of articulating brackets and a plurality of antennas is provided. Each of the articulating brackets is configured to move one of the plurality of antennas into a plurality of positions, and each of the antennas is configured to receive a RFID signal. In addition, a processor receives RFID data based on RFID signals received by the antennas of the antenna array, and determines a trajectory of a subject based on the RFID data. Based on the determined trajectory of the subject, the processor controls one or more of the articulating brackets to move one or more of the antennas into a position to track the subject.

  • Patent number: 12086676
Abstract: A routing system that can receive, decode, and route messages from electronic tracking tags made by different manufacturers and issued by different tag issuers. Tracking tags may be placed on items that are shipped or stored, and wireless messages from the tags may be used to track the items and their status. The system enables a site to use a single gateway that obtain messages from heterogeneous tracking tags; the gateway forwards messages to the routing system for processing. The system may access a tag manufacturers database that contains a descriptor of the messages from each manufacturer's tags, and a tag registrations database that lists tags associated with each tag issuer. The system supports tag messages with encrypted contents and with tag identifiers that are rotated to prevent malicious tracking, and it may check message integrity to detect modification of the message after it is sent from the tag.
