  • Patent number: 11937909
Abstract: A magnetic marker for use in locating tissue for surgery includes a casing and two to five magnetic elements arranged in a row. The two or more magnetic elements are separated from each other by an isolating material. The magnetic marker may be non-bio-absorbable. This means that the magnetic marker is invariable as it does not decay over time. This invariability ensures that on the basis of the signal measured by a magnetometer device a distance between a probe of the magnetometer device and the magnetic marker can be determined.

  • Patent number: 11933619
Abstract: In an approach for recommending a safe path for people to navigate an environment, a processor generates a contact graph for a user in a group of users in an area, based on a pre-defined distance measurement between the user and another user in a same timestamp during a pre-defined time period. A processor builds a profile for the user based on the contact graph, the profile including a probability model corresponding to the contact graph to estimate an infection probability for the user. A processor calculates an initial route for the user from a first location to a second location in the area. A processor analyzes an infection risk for the user based on the profile and other users within a pre-defined distance to the user in the initial route. A processor updates the initial route based on the analysis to minimize the risk to be infected.

  • Patent number: 11736838
Abstract: A passive wireless sensor may be wirelessly coupled with an interrogator. The sensor uses multiple antennas to receive an interrogation signal from the interrogator and compares a path length difference between the signal received at each antenna. The path length difference changes based on the relative position of the sensor and interrogator. Using the path length difference, the sensor transmits a response signal to the interrogator. The interrogator analyzes the response signal to determine sensor position. The interrogator compares the determined sensor position to a previous known sensor position to determine if an attack has occurred, such as a replay, counterfeit, or tampering attack. The sensor may include cryptographic circuitry that scrambles the response signal, thwarting an attack such as a sniffing attack. The interrogator may include multiple antennas and determine a position of the sensor by calculating an angle-of-arrival that enhances a signal from the sensor, via beamforming.

  • Patent number: 11574284
Abstract: At the time of manufacture of medical items that are to be consumed during patient care, a unique identification number is assigned to each item and the number is encoded in an RFID tag attached to the item. The manufacturer registers the unique identification number for each individual medical item in a Unique Device Identification (UDI) Serialized Tracking Database. The UDI Serialized Tracking Database maps each unique identification number to each item's UDI number that has been assigned by the Food and Drug Administration. As each item is consumed during medical treatment and its cost is billed to payers, the unique identification number of the item is reported and verified. This provides for detection of certain types of fraud in the dispensing of medical items by validating that necessary supplies were actually used during patient care.

  • Patent number: 10997381
Abstract: Systems and methods for operating an Electronic Article Surveillance (“EAS”) system. The methods comprise: detecting movement of a plurality of security tags in a facility using Radio Frequency Identification (“RFID”); identifying which security tags of the plurality of security tags are moving towards an exit of the facility or are in a surveillance zone; determining a number of the identified security tags that are coupled to unsold objects; comparing the number to a threshold value; and causing the EAS system to issue an alarm when the number is greater than or equal to the threshold value.
