  • Patent number: 11049381
Abstract: A system and method of monitoring and conveying the health status of a user via a device configured to issue an audio-visual cue to the user to which he or she must respond. If the user does not respond to the cue within a specified amount of time, the system contacts pertinent emergency services, employers, and emergency contacts as elected by the user. A wireless communication radio of the system is used to contact the pertinent authorities, and a GPS device is employed to relay location data to expedite the arrival of help to the individual. The system may also be of use in the prevention of kidnapping or lost child scenarios as the system is configured to alert the relevant authorities when no response is detected from the user after a preset period of time has elapsed.

The instructions case the microprocessor to render the second presentation of the information to the display device of the vehicle to replace the first presentation of the information displayed to the display device of the vehicle.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a determination system, a corresponding determination method and a computer program for determining a sleep stage of a subject. The determination system comprises a cardiorespiratory signal providing unit (10), an actigraphy data providing unit (20), a first sleep stage determination unit (30) for determining the sleep stage based on a cardiorespiratory signal, and a second sleep stage determination unit (40) for determining the sleep stage based on actigraphy data. The first sleep stage determination unit (30) determines a sleep onset latency (SOL) of the subject. The sleep stage of the subject is determined using the first sleep stage determination unit (30) up to the SOL and the second sleep stage determination unit (40) after the SOL. The determination system and corresponding method allow for a more reliable determination of a sleep stage of subject, in particular improve the determination of the SOL of the subject.

Abstract: The method, system, and computer-readable medium facilitates monitoring a vehicle operator during the course of vehicle operation to determine whether the vehicle operator is in an emotionally impaired state (e.g., aggressive or agitated) and presenting appropriate stimuli (e.g., music or sound recordings) to the vehicle operator when impairment is detected. The vehicle operator, the environment surrounding the vehicle, or forces acting on the vehicle may be monitored using a variety of sensors, including optical sensors, accelerometers, or biometric sensors (e.g., skin conductivity, heart rate, or voice modulation). When the vehicle operator is determined to be in an emotionally impaired state, stimuli are selected to improve the emotional state of the vehicle operator. The selection is based on sensor data and data regarding prior responses of the vehicle operator to various stimuli. After selection, the stimuli are presented to the vehicle operator while monitoring continues.

Abstract: Vehicle cognitive data is collected using multiple devices. A user interacts with various pieces of technology to perform numerous tasks and activities. Reactions can be observed and cognitive states inferred from reactions to the tasks and activities. A first computing device within a vehicle obtains cognitive state data which is collected on an occupant of the vehicle from multiple sources, wherein the multiple sources include at least two sources of facial image data. A second computing device generates analysis of the cognitive state data which is collected from the multiple sources. A third computing device renders an output which is based on the analysis of the cognitive state data. The cognitive state data from multiple sources is tagged. The cognitive state data from the multiple sources is aggregated. The cognitive state data is interpolated when collection is intermittent. Abstract: Autonomous systems, such as vehicles being operated in a self-driving mode, may allow for human occupants to be inattentive to the operation of the system. However, events may occur that require a human user to perform an action. Systems and method are provided that enable an autonomous system to determine whether the system requires, or will require, a user action and whether the user is or is not attentive. If an action is required and the human is not attentive, an alerting protocol is executed to cause the system to perform actions that enable the user to be alerted, such as to enable the, now attentive, user to be able to perform the action.
