The tactile information supply module includes a receiver for receiving message information from the outside, a controller for converting the message information into a tactile signal, and an operator for providing tactile information to a user based on the tactile signal, wherein the operator includes at least one tactile sensation provider comprising magnetic particles and a matrix material, and wherein the tactile sensation provider is transformed in response to an external magnetic field to provide the tactile information.

Abstract: A method of sharing confidential digital content among a plurality of participants, each utilizing one or more digital communication devices connected to a network, the method including providing one or more units of content each unit comprising at least one element to one or more digital communication device belonging to at least one of the plurality of participants; on any of the digital communication devices comprising the one or more units: receiving a selection of at least one element from a participant; designating the selection as confidential, and hiding the designated selection from view on the digital communication devices; on any of the digital communication devices comprising the designated selection: authenticating a passcode from a viewing participant of the plurality of participants; receiving a request to view the designated selection from the viewing participant; and displaying the designated selection to the viewing participant.

Abstract: A method of, and a mobile terminal configured for, efficiently displaying an event indication in the form of a pop-up box during idle mode of a mobile terminal is provided. Upon occurrence of a second event in idle mode, it is determined whether an event pop-up box indicating an occurrence of a first event of the same type as the second event exists. When the event pop-up box indicating the occurrence of the first event exists, the event pop-up box is updated with information indicating the occurrence of the second event and displayed on a display.

Abstract: A message post-processing apparatus provides an optional instrumented viewport to a message recipient to store message dispositions such as archive, reply-to, forward, open, move, delete, and each elapsed time-to-disposal (TTD) from display. The instrumented viewport also displays a proposed disposition and a proposed TTD, which may be overridden within the instrumented viewport. A timer is initialized to TDD when each message is substantially within the viewport. Absent user intervention, a disposer circuit performs the proposed operation on the message upon expiration of the TTD. The proposed TTD and disposition is derived from analyzing the history and quality of similar messages among recipient's dispositions. When a recipient changes the treatment of a message, the apparatus stores the new disposition and TTD for future reference. A synthesizer circuit transforms message body and headers and proposed TTD and disposition into a message precis.

Abstract: Provided is a vibrator controlling method and apparatus. The vibrator controlling apparatus may control a vibrator to generate a vibration of a magnitude not to be sensed by a user. A stimulus of at least a threshold of nerves may be generated when a vibration of the vibrator resonates with a vibration resulting from another stimulus. The nerves may sense the generated stimulus so that the user senses a presence of the other stimulus.

The mobile terminal is first made aware of the need to receive a warning message by reception of an emergency event notification. The warning message is divided into a plurality of message segments. In one aspect of the present invention, a method for indicating a time zone change is performed by a user equipment (UE) and comprises steps of: receiving, from a first eNode-B (eNB) a first Mobility Management (MM) information message including first time zone information; storing the first time zone information and displaying a first time on a screen based on the first time zone information; moving from an area of the first eNB to an area of a second eNB; receiving, from the second eNB a second MM information message including second time zone information; checking a time zone is changed or not by comparing the first time zone information with the second time zone information; and displaying a second time according to the second time zone information on the screen when the time zone is changed.

Abstract: A method for a positioning server configured to locate positioning devices and to maintain information on users, who are associated with respective positioning devices. The server receives one or more alert messages from an alerting positioning device. Each alert message conveys identifying information of the alerting positioning device. The server uses the identifying information to retrieve a location estimate of the alerting positioning device. The server forms a first set of other positioning devices in a vicinity of the alerting positioning device and sends an assist request message to the positioning devices in the first set. The assist request message indicates the location estimate of the alerting positioning device and/or said descriptive information.

Abstract: A system and method of generating at least two distinctive auditory alerts upon receiving a transmission or telephone call at a device is described. Data indicative of a first plurality of sounds corresponding to a user of a device configured to receive the transmission or telephone call is accessed, such as from a memory. The first plurality of sounds is played at the device so as to identify a received transmission or telephone call being directed to the user. A telephone number, subscriber name or identifier associated with a transmitting or calling party of the transmission or telephone call is accessed. Data indicative of a second plurality of sounds designating the transmitting or calling party based on the subscriber name, telephone number or identifier is retrieved, such as from a data structure, and the second plurality of sounds is played at the device so as to identify the transmitting or calling party.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a system for displaying, organizing, and prioritizing the incoming information on a wireless device. Using the present invention the wireless device can display the number of voice mails, e-mails, pages, and Internet information alerts that have been received by the wireless device during a specified time period. The invention also allows the incoming information to be separated by any number of user-specified criteria such as the originating sender, or divided by work related and personal messages. The present invention allows the wireless device user to see at a glance what kind of information has been received and is being stored on the wireless device.

Abstract: A garage door can be detected as being open by sensing various physical conditions the existence of which indicate the garage door as being open. When a door is determined to be open, a notification message is wirelessly transmitted to a predetermined entity or person notifying them that the door is open. Corrective action can then be taken to close the door to keep the vehicle and contents of the garage secure.

Abstract: A method is disclosed for mass population notification of lost items. A user indicates a location in the proximity of where an item was lost and can also enter information describing the lost item and possibly upload a picture of the item. The user can select how many residents that he wants to notify about the lost item. The user's item description and contact information is processed to create a short voice message and/or text message to be delivered to the residents around the location where his item was lost. A map can be displayed to the user that graphically displays the area that is covered by the phone numbers found or an estimate of the phone number coverage selected by the user.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and techniques for alerting an owner of a lost animal involve receiving found animal identification information describing the animal from a person who has found the lost animal; attempting to retrieve a reference profile of the animal by using the found animal identification information to search a database that includes the reference profile; when the reference profile is retrieved, contacting the owner of the animal using the animal ownership information; and when the reference profile is not retrieved, broadcasting a message to attempt to alert the owner of the animal. The reference profile includes animal ownership information and reference animal identification information that overlaps with the found animal identification information.

Abstract: An electronic alert apparatus comprises a radio frequency receiver configured to receive and identify an emergency message preamble that indicates an impending transmission of an emergency message sent at a first data rate and an emergency message addressed to a shared device address sent at a second data rate. The electronic alert apparatus also includes a processor operatively connected to the radio frequency receiver and configured to decode the encoded emergency message. A memory is operatively connected to the processor and configured to store the decoded emergency message. A display is operatively connected to the controller and configured to present the decoded emergency message. Abstract: A system and method that allows a user to push a reminder message on a pending event is provided. As more applications are allowing for timed events to be exchanged between users the ability to force a reminder to be sent on timed events is described. The system provides a manual action for the user to push the reminder whenever they feel it is necessary and as often as they feel it is necessary.

Abstract: Some demonstrative embodiments include devices, systems and/or methods of processing alerts. For example, a device may include an alert module, operative independent of an operating-system and/or a power mode of the device, to receive an alert message from at least one communication network and to cause at least one user interface of the device to provide to a user of the device an alert indication, which is based on the alert message.

Abstract: A method and system of processing messages is described that includes receiving a plurality of messages directed to a user, wherein each message has a unique message identifier. Each of the received messages is associated with a respective conversation to which it belongs. Each conversation includes a respective conversation identifier and a set of one or more messages which share a common set of characteristics that meet certain predefined criteria. A list of conversations to which the various messages belong is displayed in an order determined in accordance with other predefined criteria, such as ordering the conversations by the last date a message was received in a particular conversation. Each conversation is represented as a single item in the list. Other information displayed relating to the conversation includes labels, senders, date/time values, recipients, number of message in a conversation, and whether or not the conversation contains any unread messages.

Abstract: Communication networks and associated methods are disclosed that provide an advertisement or other type of informational message to a calling party before providing ringback tones. A communication network described herein receives a call from the calling party to the called party, and temporarily interrupts call processing for the call. The communication network then selects an advertisement for the call, and initiates delivery of the advertisement to the calling party. After the advertisement is delivered to the calling party, the communication network resumes call processing for the call. In resuming call processing, the communication network provides ringback tones to the calling party and attempts to connect the call to the called party.

Abstract: A system and method are disclosed for enrolling two-way wireless security system devices (alarms, detectors, lights) in a security system. A controller is provided and is capable of exchanging wireless signals with the two-way wireless devices. The system has an enroll mode where the two-way wireless devices transmit enroll signals to the controller. The enroll signals contain an identifier associated with each device. An installer uses a keypad or other interface device to confirm enrollment of each of the devices. The controller sends an enroll confirmation signal back to the two-way wireless devices confirming that the devices have been enrolled. In response, each of the devices emits an audible or visual enroll confirmation signal to the installer.

Abstract: Provided is a method and an apparatus for controlling a NEW MESSAGE alert in a portable wireless terminal. In a sender-side terminal, a NEW MESSAGE alert is set after a message is written. The NEW MESSAGE alert setting is designated at a header of the message. The message having the header with the NEW MESSAGE alert setting is transmitted. In a receiver-side terminal, a message is received and it is determined whether a NEW MESSAGE alert is designated at a header of the received message. If a NEW MESSAGE alert is designated at the header of the received message, the designated NEW MESSAGE alert is generated. Therefore, both a sending user and a receiving user can have equal authority over the NEW MESSAGE alert.

Abstract: A method for broadcasting messages in a wireless communication system is provided. The method includes employing a paging channel to receive a broadcast event on a wireless device and utilizing the broadcast event to trigger a warning message on the device. For example, the broadcast event can be detected from a natural disaster such as a primary earthquake warning or tsunami.

Abstract: Mechanisms are provided for identifying an object placed on a clear surface. An indication is received that an object has been placed on the surface. A plurality of physical characteristics are identified that are associated with the object. Using the plurality of physical characteristics, a data structure is searched to determine the existence of a single object with physical characteristics that matches the plurality of physical characteristics. Responsive to a match, a determination is made as to whether the single object has an associated presentation. Responsive to an existence of the associated presentation, the associated presentation is presented to a user through the clear surface on which the object has been placed.

Abstract: An interactive voice response (IVR) system which allows a caller to barge-in on all prompts, yet still allows the caller to receive important information contained in the prompts. When a caller barges-in on a prompt that contains important information, the IVR system interrupts the prompt to play a short announcement with the goal of re-enforcing the importance of listening to the entire prompt. The IVR system then resumes playback of the prompt, from the beginning or of a modified version.

Abstract: Methods and systems that provide content to subscribers via wireless transmission by initiating a page that does not automatically provide associated content. The content provider conserves air time by not automatically transmitting the content. The information content may be of different types, such as voice, text, audio, or even video, and may be dynamic. In addition to the aforementioned, the content provider may provide to subscribers via wireless transmission songs or video clips or updates on weather or stock rates.

Abstract: A system and method for a call receiving pager apparatus, system and method providing priority access, billing functions, and other enhanced features. The system utilizes a subscriber apparatus having a pager or radiotelephone functions whereby a caller may call the apparatus and gain direct two-way communication with the subscriber. The caller is billed for the communication. A call receiving pager allows a subscriber to initiate an outgoing connection to at least one predetermined telephone number in order to send a pre-recorded voice or data message requesting a call back from the recipient.

Abstract: A computing device is disclosed. The computing device includes a data capture device such as a camera. Abstract: A digital communication system is disclosed, that allows a display of override content to interrupt a display of ongoing content on one or more display units. Ongoing content, such as advertisements, news, entertainment, or other relevant information, is provided on the display units until an urgent or security-related alert is required, and display of override content becomes necessary. Override content can include information relevant to the security of a passenger or passer-by viewing the display. Override content can relate to security threats such as accidents, major delays, fire, missing children, terrorist activity, or other content deemed adequately pertinent to warrant interrupting the display of ongoing content.

Abstract: A system and method for remote activation of a device includes, in one embodiment, transmitting a command message according to a first modulation, and transmitting a signal representing the command message for the device according to a second modulation. The signal representing the command message transmitted according to the second modulation may be transmitted within the command message transmitted according to the first modulation.

Abstract: A method for receiving messages in an appliance such as a clock radio modified to retrieve messages from a remote computer, converting the retrieved messages into corresponding audio messages, generating a wake up signal to the user at a selected time in the radio appliance, starting the delivery of the audio messages from a speaker in the radio appliance in response to the generated wake up signal, and receiving audible commands in the radio from the user to control delivery of the messages. In a first embodiment, these method steps are performed in the radio appliance and, in a second embodiment, a remote computer performs all of the messages except delivery of the audio messages and receiving audible commands which occur at the appliance. Where two or more appliances are used, audio commands can cause the delivery of messages to stop in one appliance and resume in another appliance.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for providing alerts in a mobile device, and more particularly a method for providing a shortcut for displaying and hiding alerts by providing an event list that is shown automatically or accessible by a shortcut button. The invention also relates to a corresponding mobile device. Thus, the invention provides a method for providing alerts in a mobile device having a display and a keypad. The method comprises the steps of: detecting an event; adding an event presentation (5) associated with the event on an event list (4); and showing the event list or a symbol (8) on the display. The event list is shown automatically for critical alerts and is accessible with one key stroke for less critical alerts. The user can choose to hide the list, also with a single key stroke, or act on an event.

Abstract: A remote control system for moving an access door includes an indicator, at least one uniquely coded remote transmitter, and a controller that is switchable to a learning mode for learning a unique code of a remote transmitter to define a learned remote transmitter. The controller is switchable to a door moving mode based upon receiving a signal from the learned remote transmitter. The controller cooperates with the indicator for indicating whether a new uniquely coded remote transmitter has been learned based upon the controller being switched to the door moving mode to thereby alert a user of a potentially unauthorized learned remote transmitter. Alternately, a remote switch may be used to activate the indicator.

Abstract: Systems and methods that dynamically generates alarms in real time are disclosed. An interface component receives instructions for generating alarms. A builder component dynamically creates alarms in real time based on instructions received and information stored on a data repository. The information comprises at least one or more of user roles, language spreadsheet and device characteristics. The system can further comprise a publisher component that packages alarms for delivery to web servers and/or another network. A proxy component for implementing the subject invention with legacy controllers is also disclosed.

The user begins providing message content to the communication device by, for example, speaking, entering text, or clicking a shutter of a camera. The unified messaging interface detects the nature of the content and creates a corresponding type of message. The user can indicate a desire to create and send a message by performing “one-click” action. The one-click action is an operation performed on the device that can be instantiated as a single button-press on the keypad; selection of a single soft key by depressing a button on the keypad or touching the screen of the device; or issuance of a single voice command.
