  • Patent number: 6529117
Abstract: A radio selective call receiver includes a receiving section, a recognizing section, an alarm section and a control section. The receiving section receives a radio signal. The recognizing section detects a message and a selective call number from the received radio signal, and recognizes selectively a reception time of the message as a latest reception time based on a kind of the selective call number. The alarm section generates an alarm in response to an alarm instruction. The control section compares at a comparison timing, a time difference between a current time and the latest reception time and a predetermined time period, and selectively outputs the alarm instruction to the alarm section based on the comparing result.

Abstract: A data display radio pager of the present invention receives a paging signal including an address number and a message following the address number. If the address number is identical with an address number assigned to the pager, a CPU (Central Processing Unit) writes the message in a RAM (Random Access Memory) while displaying it on an LCD (Liquid Crystal Display). When the user of the pager operates a read switch, the CPU accesses the RAM to display the message stored therein on the LCD. If a receipt interrupt occurs when the CPU is reading the message out of the RAM, the CPU displays both the message stored and an incoming message on the LCD.

Abstract: In a radio communication apparatus, on the receipt of a radio signal via an antenna, an address number included in the radio signal is compared with an address number stored in the apparatus beforehand. If the two address numbers compare equal, a message processing section 4 converts a message signal following the address number to characters to be displayed and thereby produces message data. The message data are written to a message storage 7. Further, the message data are compared with an original message stored in a replacement message information storage 5 beforehand. If the message data includes the original message, then a portion of the message data corresponding to the original message is replaced with a substitute message. • Patent number: 6459360
Abstract: A paging transceiver and method for selectively paging provides a page to a paging transceiver but does not automatically provide an associated message. The paging transceiver receives the page and alerts the user that information is waiting and provides an identifier for the information. The user can then download or otherwise act on the information at a time and at a place convenient to the user. The paging system conserves air time and the paging transceiver conserves memory by not automatically receiving the associated information. The paging transceiver can receive transmissions during off-peak hours and has a timer which can be programmed so that information is delivered at a desired time. The paging transceiver allows a user to erase information stored at the paging transceiver and corresponding information stored at a remote system. When information is erased, the paging transceiver preferably keeps the identifier in memory and does not write over the message.

  • Patent number: 6426691
Abstract: A radio selective calling receiver includes a storage 105 storing a plurality of frequencies each corresponding to a particular area in which a service is available. A synchronized frequency storage 112 stores, frequency by frequency, the numbers of times of synchronization set up at consecutive sampling times together with the sampling times. When frequency search begins, a receipt frequency control 110 sequentially searches the frequencies in accordance with the number of times of synchronization set up at a sampling time closest to the time at which the search has begun. The receiver is capable reducing a period of time necessary for a frequency search without forcing the user of the receiver to perform any special setting operation. This reduces the probability of missing a call meant for the receiver and saves power to be allocated to frequency search.
