  • Patent number: 11428822
Abstract: Methods and systems for location determination are described herein. An example implementation may involve receiving signals from a set of satellites to determine a general location of a receiver. After receiving a signal from a satellite, the receiver may-determine an angle of reception that indicates an orientation of the satellite relative to the receiver. The receiver may further obtain topography information for the general location that indicates the positions and elevations of features (e.g., buildings) at the general location. For instance, the receiver may use elevation maps or sensors to determine the topography information. Using the topography information and determined angles of receptions, the receiver may identify any signals that reflected off a feature prior to reaching the receiver. As a result, the receiver may determine and use the reflected path traveled by a reflected signal to refine the general location of the receiver.

Abstract: A real-time system and method for personal air pollution exposure and inhaled dose management is described. A personal device (e.g., smartphone) determines personal exposure and inhaled dose metrics (e.g., daily accumulated dose), and compares daily histories of these metrics with personal health histories (e.g., self-reported daily asthma symptoms/inhaler use) to provide notifications when adverse health effects (e.g., asthma exacerbation) are likely to occur. The system notifications provide a personalized exposure/dose management tool by recommending behavioral changes to reduce exposure/dose (e.g., change time-location, time-physical activities, building operation). These behavioral changes are then used by the system to modify the real-time exposure and dose determined by the system.

Abstract: A camera captures video imagery depicting a digitally-watermarked object. A reference signal in the watermark is used to discern the pose of the object relative to the camera, and this pose is used in affine-transforming and positioning a graphic on the imagery as an augmented reality overlay. Feature points are also discerned from the captured imagery, or recalled from a database indexed by the watermark. As the camera moves relative to the object, the augmented reality overlay tracks the changing object depiction, using these feature points. When feature point-based tracking fails, the watermark is again processed to determine pose, and the overlay presentation is updated accordingly. In another arrangement, feature points are extracted from images of supermarket objects captured by multiple users, and are compiled in a database in association with watermark data identifying the objects—serving as a crowd-sourced repository of feature point data.

  • Patent number: 10572775
Abstract: Techniques described herein relate to generating a posteriori knowledge about where objects are typically located within environments to improve object location. In various implementations, output from vision sensor(s) of a robot may include visual frame(s) that capture at least a portion of an environment in which a robot operates/will operate. The visual frame(s) may be applied as input across a machine learning model to generate output that identifies potential location(s) of an object of interest. The robot's position/pose may be altered based on the output to relocate one or more of the vision sensors. One or more subsequent visual frames that capture at least a not-previously-captured portion of the environment may be applied as input across the machine learning model to generate subsequent output identifying the object of interest. The robot may perform task(s) that relate to the object of interest.

  • Patent number: 10553021
Abstract: A navigational system includes a hybrid-dimensional visualization scheme with a multi-modal interaction flow to serve for digital mapping applications, such as in car infotainment systems and online map services. The hybrid-dimensional visualization uses an importance-driven or focus-and-context visualization approach to combine the display of different map elements, including 2D map, 2D building footprint, 3D map, weather visualization, realistic day-night lighting, and POI information, into a single map view. The combination of these elements is guided by intuitive user interactions using multiple modalities simultaneously, such that the map information is filtered to best respond to the user's request, and presented in a way that presents both the focus and the context in a map in an aesthetic manner. The system facilitates several use cases that are common to the users, including destination preview, destination search, and virtual map exploration.

Abstract: Systems and methods described herein may be used to provide users personalized point-of-interest (PoI) information. A context server may cause information, describing PoIs in a particular geographic area, to be sent to a device (e.g., a component of a vehicle, a user device, etc.) communicating with a wireless telecommunication network. The device may individually determine which PoIs to display to the user based on factors such as a current location of the device, an operating status or condition of a vehicle associated with the device, and historical behavior information. The PoIs sent to the vehicles may include a personalized PoI that may be displayed to drivers in a highlighted manner. Additionally, the device may collect driving behavior information relative to the PoIs and/or the personalized PoI and provide the driving behavior information to the context server as feedback.
