  • Patent number: 9651665
Abstract: A method is provided whereby a group of receivers local to one another make GNSS measurements of a number of satellites, from one or multiple different GNSS's, and by combining the measurements of the same satellites made by the different receivers it is possible given sufficient conditions to determine the positions of the receivers and the satellite errors such that the positions obtained are equivalent to those obtained from a traditional differential GNSS system, without the need for a static reference receiver at a known location.

Abstract: A method and a system for reducing time to first fix (TTFF) in a satellite navigation receiver (SNR) includes constructing an integrated satellite constellation system (ISCS) for transmitting navigation signals over a combination of a first carrier frequency, a second carrier frequency, and a third carrier frequency. The ISCS includes a predetermined number of geosynchronous satellites positioned at first predetermined geographic coordinates in a geosynchronous orbit and a predetermined number of geostationary satellites positioned at second predetermined geographic coordinates in a geostationary orbit. The ISCS transmits navigation data to the SNR over the combination of the first carrier frequency, the second carrier frequency, and the third carrier frequency in reduced time, thereby reducing the TTFF in the SNR. The method and the system also reduce TTFF in a hot start mode and a snap start mode of the SNR by utilizing the third carrier frequency as a data channel.

  • Patent number: 8736454
Abstract: A microprocessor controlled security tag and accompanying security system is described. The tag generally includes a housing having external contacts to interface with elongated contacts on a connecting band. The band forms a complex impedance circuit with a patient's limb that allows detection features such as removal and band compromise. A microprocessor and related circuitry as well as a transmitter and receivers are enclosed in the housing. The tag is adapted to communicate inductively with an activator/deactivator unit as well as a tag programmer that updates and changes tag features in the tag firmware. The overall system further includes a hub to receive the data from a plurality of tags in the system. The tag can also communicate with a phased multiple antenna that sends signals to the tag.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus are presented for processing a remote lock command message. In one aspect, a method includes receiving, by a mobile device, a remote lock command message comprising a lock command and specifying a passcode to be set by the mobile device, locking the mobile device in response to the received remote lock command message, setting an unlock passcode associated with the mobile device to the specified passcode, and generating an acknowledgement message in response to the remote lock command message. Further, receiving the remote lock command message can include accessing a subscribed topic hosted on a notification service, the subscribed topic being associated with a lock command, and retrieving the remote lock command message from the subscribed topic. Additionally, locking the mobile device can include locking a display such that access to information stored on the mobile device and device functionality are blocked.

Abstract: A method of communicating corrections for information related to satellite signals among global navigation satellite system (GNSS) receivers is described. The method includes at a first GNSS device determining a component of position of a satellite. The component is then divided by a first value to thereby obtain an integer value and a remainder value, and the only the remainder value is transmitted from the first GNSS device to the second GNSS device. Knowing the first value, the second GNSS device calculates the component of position.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus are presented for processing a remote command message. In one aspect, a method includes accessing a subscribed topic hosted on a notification service, the subscribed topic corresponding to a mobile device, retrieving a remote command message included in the subscribed topic that identifies a command to be executed by the mobile device, determining whether the command can be executed by the mobile device, publishing a result message associated with the command, and executing, by the mobile device, the command based on the determining. Publishing the result message further can include identifying in the remote command message a result topic corresponding to the notification service and publishing the result message to the identified result topic. Additionally, the subscribed topic can be uniquely associated with the mobile device.

  • Patent number: 8660576
Abstract: Methods, program products, and systems for adaptive location determination are described. A server computer can receive location information from location-aware mobile devices (e.g., GPS-enabled devices) located in a cell of a cellular communications network. The server computer can calculate an average geographic location using the received locations and distance between each location and the calculated average. The server computer can exclude locations that are sufficiently far away from the average. The server computer can repeat the calculation and exclusion until a level of precision is achieved for the average geographic location. The average geographic location and an error margin can be associated with the cell. The server computer can provide the average geographic location and the error margin to a mobile device (e.g., a non-GPS-enabled device) that is in the cell. The mobile device can display the information on a map display of the mobile device.

  • Patent number: 8634860
Abstract: Methods, program products, and systems for location determination using cached location area codes are described. A mobile device can store a set of location area codes (LACs) of a cellular communications network on the mobile device. Each LAC can represent a location area of the cellular communications network that encompasses at least a predetermined number of cells. Each LAC can be further associated with an estimated geographic area. The estimated geographic area can be defined as a circle centered at a location and having a radius representing an uncertainty of the location. The mobile device can determine a current LAC of the mobile device based on a wirelessly received signal. The mobile device can determine a current location of the mobile device by performing a lookup in the stored set of LACs using the current LAC.
