    Abstract: There are provided systems and methods for tinting an image by monochromatic tinting using saturation maps for use by an application providing a user interface supporting customizable tinted images. By using saturation map and a monochromatic value map derived from the image and configuring the saturation map to specify areas for tinting, a tint color can be applied to the image by a series of quickly processed arithmetic calculations. This provides a lightweight and high quality method for tinting images within an application without wasting unnecessary network bandwidth or processor resources. Furthermore, the method can be adapted to apply multiple tint colors for multiple tints or use an alpha channel to restore color information lost due to the monochromatic value map. The resulting tinted image can also be used as a texture for a three-dimensional rendering engine.

To display an EBD image, such as an x-ray or MRI image set, on a web browser, the image data is mapped into a plurality of channels of pixels of a color image which a web browser is able to handle, where each channel holds a portion of the full dynamic range of the original EBD image. At the client, a color transform is applied to the color image data which takes into account the user's desired VOI settings. The resulting display image has the exact values as if the VOI was applied to the original EBD image and is dynamically mapped to the display capabilities of the client viewing framework thus enabling a reviewer to detect any available details of the image.

    Abstract: A display color-correcting system is provided. Color response values are measured that go into the vertices of polyhedra in a cubic color output space of the display. A set of corresponding values for the display is built from intermediate values determined between the measured color response values. The intermediate values are determined by decomposition and interpolation of interpolation volumes in the cubic color output space. Each of the interpolation volumes is the combined volume of a selected polyhedron within the cubic color output space and a predetermined volume of space between the selected polyhedron and the next polyhedron within the cubic color output space. The set of corresponding values is converted into decoupled RGB adjustment values that specify the RGB signals independently for the display to produce corrected colors. The RGB adjustment values are saved into one or more look-up tables.

With the arrangement, it becomes possible for a drive circuit to (i) operate at the same processing speed as a drive circuit in which all tables are stored in the internal memory, and simultaneously, (ii) reduce the amount of memory.

Each region of the transformed frame buffer image is sequentially transmitted to the color field sequential display device for display of the corresponding color channel. Backlight illumination for each color channel is controlled by the GPU for temporal alignment with display of each color channel during a vertical blanking interval. The GPU may compensate an individual pixel's color channel value based on a corresponding previous color channel value in order to minimize crosstalk between neighboring color fields.

    Abstract: A floating point rasterization and frame buffer in a computer system graphics program. The rasterization, fog, lighting, texturing, blending, and antialiasing processes operate on floating point values. In one embodiment, a 16-bit floating point format consisting of one sign bit, ten mantissa bits, and five exponent bits (s10e5), is used to optimize the range and precision afforded by the 16 available bits of information. In other embodiments, the floating point format can be defined in the manner preferred in order to achieve a desired range and precision of the data stored in the frame buffer. The final floating point values corresponding to pixel attributes are stored in a frame buffer and eventually read and drawn for display. The graphics program can operate directly on the data in the frame buffer without losing any of the desired range and precision of the data.

    Abstract: An image processing circuit includes: a storage unit; a first multiplication unit that multiplies a pixel value stored in the storage unit, by a pixel value included in input image data, the input image data expressing the pixel values; a subtraction value output unit that outputs a pixel value obtained by subtracting a pixel value at each of the positions in the input image data, from a maximum pixel value in the input image data; a second multiplication unit that multiplies a pixel value included in the input image data or a pixel value included in background image data, by the pixel value output by the subtraction value output unit; and an adder unit that adds up a multiplication result of the first and second multiplication units and outputs addition results as output image data.
