  • Patent number: 7295175
Abstract: There is provided a device for driving a light-emitting display panel in which output limiter element is added to a DC-DC converter which associates a boosting operation. In the drive device, even though a forward voltage of a monitor element increases to operate the limiter element, predetermined display quality can be assured without considerably disrupting a color balance. On a display panel, a display region in which display pixels of R, G, and B are arranged and an arrangement region for monitor elements which monitor forward voltages of R, G, and B are formed. Output voltages obtained by the respective DC-DC converters are controlled based on the forward voltages obtained by the monitor elements. An output limiter is constituted by zener diodes to prevent converter output values from being excessive by increases in forward voltages from the monitor elements due to aging. Limiter values obtained by the zener diodes are set at different levels.

Abstract: A current driver circuit in a driver circuit generates, and maintains, a state where a drive current for an electro-optic device flows through a current output TFT and a capacitor, using a constant current output from a single constant current source during a non-drive controllable period for the pixel. The driver circuit performs the previous operation on each pixel. The current driver circuit then generates the drive current in the maintained circuit state and passes the drive current through a source line to the pixel which is in a drive controllable period by means of voltage state of the gate line, so as to control the driving of the pixel. Thus, in the pixel receiving the drive current, the drive current flows through the electro-optic device to effect a display. The current driver circuit for the electro-optic device is capable of inhibiting the current value from varying from one source line to another, while permitting construction based on a low temperature polysilicon TFT or CG silicon TFT.

Improved uniformity for the apparatus is achieved by measuring the intensity of each separate color generating LED in each pixel, recording each intensity and varying the current to each separate color LED or LEDs so that every LED or LEDs responsible for each color to provide a suitable color output. A feature of the apparatus is that a number of separate modules, each having a pixel array, can be combined to construct a video image board. These boards have applications in such areas as billboards along roadways and as signs in stadiums.

Abstract: A display panel driver has a single resistor string for gamma correction and a signal power supply, which have heretofore been required for each of red, green, and blue, and is small in size and has its power consumption reduced. Voltage generator including a single resistor string having n reference voltage terminals generates n reference voltages. Voltage selector selects and outputs m red gradation voltages Vr(0) through Vr(15), m green gradation voltages Vg(0) through Vg(15), and m blue gradation voltages Vb(0) through Vb(15) from the n reference voltages. The display panel driver provides all of a gamma correction curve for red, gamma correction curve for green, and a gamma correction curve for blue with a single resistor string and a pair of power supplies including a ground potential.

Abstract: When one row electrode has been selected with a selection signal, driving signals are supplied to column electrodes so as to cause electroluminescence elements at corresponding display pixels to emit light. The driving period for impressing the driving signals and emitting light from the corresponding display pixels is determined on the basis of the color of the display pixel that is to emit light. Thus, with a simple configuration, the brightness of each color can be made uniform without the use of pulse width modulation or the like.

  • Patent number: 7119760
Abstract: Improved color image display accuracy can be achieved across a computer network by obtaining information characterizing the color response of display devices associated with a client residing on the computer network, and using the information to modify color images delivered to the client. The information may include a gamma estimate. In one embodiment, the gamma estimate is limited to only the green color channel, without reference to the gammas for the red and blue channels. In this manner, the gamma estimate concentrates on the most dominant color channel and avoids errors that can arise due to the red-blue imbalances that are highly prevalent in many display devices. The information can be obtained, for example, by guiding the client through a color profiling process that profiles the color response of the display device. For example, such guidance may take the form of a series of instructional web pages that are delivered to the client.

  • Patent number: 7116294
Abstract: Several driver circuits for energizing series arrays of LEDs are disclosed. The LED driver circuits incorporate programmable microcontrollers and switching regulators in circuits that permit precise control of current applied to the series array of LEDs. One driver circuit senses the condition of a SYNC line such that the light emission pattern of multiple LED light sources, each with a driver circuit connected to the SYNC line may be coordinated without need for a central controller. Another driver circuit applies an overdrive current to the LEDs for a first pre-determined time period, then ramps down the applied current to a sustainable level. A four channel driver circuit provides each channel with electronic switches arranged to simultaneously turn on and electrically connect a constant current source to an LED array, resulting in abrupt turn on and turn off of the LEDs.

Abstract: The invention provides an electro-optical panel that stores data in pixels with a simple structure. In particular, pixels can be provided in association with intersections of data lines and scanning lines. Each of the pixels includes a hold capacitor, an inverter, an OLED element, and first to third transistors. At a reading period, data stored in the hold capacitor is inverted by the inverter and rewritten to the hold capacitor an even number of times. Thus, the logical level of the hold capacitor can be maintained. At a holding period, the second transistor is turned on. Also, the potential of a high potential source at the reading period is set to be higher than that at the holding period, and the potential of a low potential source at the reading period is set to be lower than that at the holding period.
