Abstract: An image forming method and a combination of a thermal transfer sheet and a thermal transfer image receiving sheet are capable of forming images of high print quality. An image forming method wherein an image is formed by combining a thermal transfer sheet, which is obtained by forming a dye layer on one surface of a substrate and forming a back surface layer on the other surface of the substrate, and a thermal transfer image receiving sheet, which is obtained by forming a dye receiving layer on one surface of another substrate. The dye layer of the thermal transfer sheet contains a sublimable dye, a binder resin and one or both of (A) a polyether-modified silicone having a viscosity of not less than 1,000 mm2/s at 25° C. and (B) a polyester-modified polysiloxane. The dye receiving layer of the thermal transfer image receiving sheet is an aqueous dye receiving layer.

For each pixel, each r,g,b value is separated into separate grayscale components and color components. A lookup table is applied to each grayscale and color component to generate an ink value for each of the print heads. The ink values are combined to produce a final ink output value for each pixel, and the final ink output values are employed for printing on medium using an ink-jet printer.

Abstract: When the user operates a paper feed button 9c while the access cover 11 is open (steps ST1, ST2), the printer 1 moves the printhead 12 from the printhead-down position 12D to the printhead-up position 12U, and moves the second paper feed roller pair 31 from the nip state to the nip-release state (step ST3). When the access cover 11 is then closed, the printer 1 returns the second conveyance roller pair 31 to the nip state, and returns the printhead 12 to the printhead-down position 12D (steps ST4, ST5). Abstract: A transport device that includes a PF motor (that drives a PF roller which transports roll paper) and an intermediate motor (that drives an intermediate roller disposed on the upstream side of the PF roller), sets a slack removal force when transporting the roll paper so that the force applied to the paper in a direction opposite to the transport direction of the roll paper is larger as paper width of the roll paper is narrower, sets a slack removal torque as a torque to be outputted from the intermediate motor in accordance with the set slack removal force, and controls the driving of the intermediate motor to output the set slack removal torque. This makes it possible to cause the tension of the roll paper to be uniform regardless of the paper width so as to transport the roll paper precisely.
