Abstract: A system and method provide object localization in a query image based on a global representation of the image generated with a model derived from a convolutional neural network. Representations of annotated images and a query image are each generated based on activations output by a layer of the model which precedes the fully-connected layers of the neural network. A similarity is computed between the query image representation and each of the annotated image representations to identify a subset of the annotated images having the highest computed similarity. Object location information from at least one of the subset of annotated images is transferred to the query image and information is output, based on the transferred object location information.

Abstract: A system and method are provided for displaying video surveillance fields of view limitations. The system and method perform video surveillance of a given area and then geo-locate any obstacles within the area, including measuring their overall size and shape. The system and method map the size, location and shape of the objects into a database and then identify where there are video surveillance coverage gaps from each vantage point where video surveillance is being performed on the area. Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed relating to acquisition of images regarding large area objects or large areas. In one exemplary embodiment, there is provided a method of obtaining or capturing, via a first system that includes one or more first image capturing devices, overview images, wherein the overview images depict first areas, as well as obtaining or capturing, via a second system that includes a plurality of image capturing devices, detail images characterized as being related to each other along an image axis. Moreover, the detail images may depict second areas that are subsets of the first areas, they may be arranged in strips parallel to the image axis, and they may have a higher resolution than corresponding portions of the first images.

Abstract: Embodiments described herein comprise a system and method for improving visibility of a roadway using an improved visibility system. The method comprising receiving data from a plurality of fog detectors located proximate a roadway and determining, based on the data from the plurality of fog detectors, that fog is present about the roadway. The method further comprising obtaining, after the determining that fog is present about the roadway, a plurality of images of the roadway by activating a plurality of cameras located proximate the roadway. The method further comprising creating a composite image by combining two or more of the plurality of images, wherein the composite image depicts the roadway unobstructed by fog and transmitting the composite image to a display device located in a vehicle traveling along the roadway.

Abstract: A process is repeated in which N state vectors each including, as elements, the position of a camera with respect to a vehicle, the posture of the camera, the width of a lane where the vehicle is driving, and the orientation of the vehicle with respect to the lane are changed according to a predetermined dynamics model, a reference state vector representing the positions of edges of lane marks included in an image captured by the camera is generated when each of the changed state vectors is true, considering the positions of edges of lane marks in the image as an observation vector, the degree of match between the reference state vector and the observation vector is calculated as the weight of the state vector, a weighted average vector of the state vectors is calculated, and N state vectors are resampled on the basis of the calculated weights.
