An optical axis of a video camera lens is directed through the cavity to the window, wherein an external radiation passing into the cavity and falling on the lens can be acquired by a camera image sensor for obtaining an image. Such a construction avoiding stray external light sources hitting the lens and avoids distortion of the received image from the external sources.

A road surface property determination unit then detects the corresponding road surface property based on the reflectivity table.

A planar-connected graph is generated by connecting at least portions of the plural curves. The planar-connected graph corresponds to the road network.
