Abstract: The invention relates to a method for reading a two-dimensional matrix of pixels of an image sensor, the matrix being organized in blocks of pixels forming macropixels, each macropixel being readable independently of one another in high resolution mode and/or in low resolution mode. The method includes the steps of, during the selection of the high resolution readout mode for a macropixel, in reading and storing the values of the pixels thereof, in order to define a reference macropixel, and during the subsequent high resolution readout cycles of this macropixel, in forming the difference between the read values of the pixels thereof and the values of the corresponding pixels of the reference macropixel.

Abstract: The invention refers to a device, a method and a computer program product for extracting motion information from a sequence of video frames. Existing solutions for extracting motion information from sequence of video frames need a massive computing power which make it difficult and expensive to implement a real-time system. It is therefore an object of the invention to simplify such a device and to provide a real-time embedded system. It is suggested to provide a device comprising a digital video camera 1. The video camera 1 includes a processing unit 3 for processing video frames grabbed by the video camera 1. The processing uses a 3D recursive search block matching algorithm to extract the motion information from the video frames. Abstract: The present invention advantageously provides a means by which the privacy zone on a PTZ camera can be maintained so that an object in the camera's sight is always masked or covered. An algorithm which remembers the defined privacy zones as an area in space marked by four rays touching the four corners of the marked zone and having absolute Pan, Tilt angular coordinates is presented. The privacy zone is initially defined by a rectangle on the screen with known pixel co-ordinates which are translated into angular coordinates. Then, when the camera moves and prepares to display a new screen, the privacy zone is superimposed on the object to be masked. Locating the object and displaying its privacy zone is done by translating the absolute angular coordinates of the original privacy zone into pixel coordinates. Additionally, multiple privacy zones can be displayed on one camera screen.

The data processor reads the encoded data from the buffer memory and transmits the read encoded data to a packet generator when it is confirmed that the storage request signal is ineffective and the encoded data is stored in the buffer memory. The data processor receives the encoded data from the encoder and transmits the received encoded data to the packet generator when it is confirmed that the storage request signal is ineffective and the encoded data is not stored in the buffer memory.

Abstract: A device which can support a determination of a camera layout by automatically preparing the camera layout that satisfies a customer request based on the customer request including a surveillance layout. Specifically, a need table that is a data set of a plurality of arrangement candidate cameras satisfying the customer request is prepared from the customer request including the surveillance layout. An arrangement of the plurality of the arrangement candidate cameras on a map is calculated based on the need table using a clustering method and a temporary layout of cameras is prepared. Then, an arrangement layout of the cameras in the surveillance layout is determined based on the temporary layout.

Abstract: A combined digital and mechanical tracking system and process for generating a video using a single digital video camera that tracks a person or object of interest moving in a scene is presented. This generally involves operating the camera at a higher resolution than is needed for the application, and cropping a sub-region out of the image captured that is output as the output video. The person or object being tracked is at least partially contained within the cropped sub-region. As the person or object moves within the field of view of the camera, the location of the cropped sub-region is also moved so as to keep the subject of interest within its boundaries. When the subject of interest moves to the boundary of the FOV of the camera, the camera is mechanically panned to keep the person or object inside its FOV.

Abstract: Security systems and methods are implemented using a variety of devices and methods. According to one such implementation, a security system uses a controller to communicate with security-monitoring devices and has an integrated image-capture device with a circuit board structure with an angle-setting support article, a circuit board with a nonadjustable surface, and data-communicating conductors. A camera is secured to the nonadjustable surface and is directed at a first angle relative to the nonadjustable surface. A motion detector is secured to the nonadjustable surface and is directed at a second angle relative to the nonadjustable surface of the circuit board. The support article sets the first angle relative to the second angle for capturing both images and motion in a target area. A data-communication circuit communicates data from the camera and the motion detector and wirelessly communicates the data to the controller. A solar circuit provides power to the device.

Abstract: One embodiment pertains to a surveillance device having at least two video cameras contained within a housing of the surveillance device. The device is configured to couple to at least one side of a door. One of the two cameras is positioned on one side of the surveillance device in order to record video images on one side of the door while the another camera is positioned on an opposite side of the surveillance device to record video images on the other side of the door. As the door opens and closes, the two video cameras are able to record a wider, sweeping angle of the interior and exterior areas of the door. The surveillance device may be mounted onto the door at a height near the average height of a human in order to maximize image capture of people's faces as they enter or exit through the door.

Abstract: An estimation unit calculates an estimated motion vector between a first source region of a plurality of source regions and a first destination region on a destination picture. The first destination region has the highest correlation with the first source region. A weight calculation unit searches a plurality of second destination regions. Each second destination region is pointed by the estimated motion vector of another source region adjacent to the first source region. The weight calculation unit extracts pixel values of each second destination region, calculates a difference of pixel values between the first source region and each second destination region, and calculates a weight based on the difference. The weight is smaller if the difference is larger. A filtering unit calculates a motion vector of the first source region by averaging the estimated motion vectors with the weight.
