  • Patent number: 8650605
Abstract: A handheld leakage detector for finding digital QAM signal leaks in a HFC network, comprises a radio receiver, a leakage receiver, leakage sampler, a correlator, and a display. The radio receiver receives samples of the QAM signal taken from the HFC network, called “reference samples.” The leakage receiver receives a QAM leakage signal, which is related to the QAM signal from the HFC network. The leakage sampler samples the leakage signal to form leakage samples. The correlator performs a coherent cross-correlation of the reference samples and the leakage samples, to produce a correlation peak. A value is determined from the correlation peak and displayed on the display. The value generally becomes more optimized as the detector approaches the leak. The leak is sought by iteratively changing the position of the detector until the displayed value becomes substantially optimized or the leak is found.

Abstract: A method is disclosed of analyzing a video stream using a video analyzer. The video stream includes image frame data corresponding to an integer N number of image frames, respectively. The video analyzer includes a controller and a frame processor. The method includes setting a problem threshold value corresponding to a parameter of the image frame data, receiving first image frame data corresponding to a first image frame, analyzing the parameter of a portion of the received first image frame data and generating an analyzed value and determining whether there is a problem based on the analyzed value and the problem threshold value. The portion of the analyzed portion of the received first image frame data is less than the total received first image frame data.

  • Patent number: 8553155
Abstract: A system and method for improved comb filtering. Various aspects of the present invention may comprise method steps and system components that generate a signal indicative of the quality of a field-combed signal. A first signal indicative of inter-field and inter-line signal difference substantially inside the chroma frequency band may be generated. An indication of field comb quality may be determined based at least in-part on the first signal, and a corresponding signal may be generated. Various aspects of the present invention may comprise method steps and system components that generate a comb-filtered signal. A field comb signal and line comb signal may be generated. A comb-filtered signal may be generated based on the field comb signal, line comb signal, and the signal indicative of the field comb quality.

Abstract: Refractometers for simultaneously measuring refractive index of a sample over a range of wavelengths of light include dispersive and focusing optical systems. An optical beam including the range of wavelengths is spectrally spread along a first axis and focused along a second axis so as to be incident to an interface between the sample and a prism at a range of angles of incidence including a critical angle for at least one wavelength. An imaging detector is situated to receive the spectrally spread and focused light from the interface and form an image corresponding to angle of incidence as a function of wavelength. One or more critical angles are identified and corresponding refractive indices are determined.
