Abstract: A captioning evaluation system. The system accepts captioning data and determines a number of errors in the captioning data, as well as the number of words per minute across the entirety of an event corresponding to the captioning data and time intervals of the event. The errors may be used to determine the accuracy of the captioning and the words per minute, both for the entire event and the time intervals, used to determine a cadence and/or rhythm for the captioning. The accuracy and cadence may be used to score the captioning data and captioner.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices for reducing interference with digital television transmissions occurring over a bandwidth are disclosed. The digital television signal is correlated to a reference digital television field sync signal. A non-coherent correlation power measurement is determined based on the correlation of the received digital television signal to the reference digital television field sync signal. A plurality of maximum non-coherent correlation power measurements are determined over multiple field times. An energy estimate for the digital television transmission is determined based on the maximum non-coherent correlation power measurements. A transmit mask filter is generated based on the energy estimate. The transmit mask is applied to transmissions to reduce interference with detected digital television transmissions.

The set of three metrics provide more insight into which factors are affecting the quality of the received signal as perceived by the end-user. These three quality metrics measure reductions in quality due to lossy media transmission, packet loss concealment from packet loss and/or packet/frame jitter, and long periods of silence and/or frozen video. The method serves to detect errors resulting from environmental factors and human factors and, by using a specific measurement distance and angle, eliminate chromatic aberration caused by such factors. Environmental factors include variations of the image capture device itself; the hue, lightness, and chroma of external light; and the distance and angle between the chromatic aberration calibration device and the image capture device. Human factors include operator-related variations, focusing variations, and hand tremor during measurement. When the same chromatic aberration calibration device and imaging environment are used, the method can show color variations caused by the environmental and human factors in the image capture process and thereby determine whether the imaging environment has the expected stability.
