  • Patent number: 9749532
Abstract: A system and method for obtaining, by an electronic device, a first set of image data recorded during an image capture event and a second set of image data recorded during an image capture event. During the image capture event, a characteristic of an image capture device is changed from a first state to a second state. The first and second sets of image data are recorded by an image capture device having one or more image recording components with one or more image sensor arrays. An image is generated based at least in part on the first and second sets of image data.

  • Patent number: 9749533
Abstract: This image pickup apparatus performs feedback control so that a position of a shake correcting lens converges to a target position. A LPF and a subtracting unit divide a shake signal into low-frequency and high-frequency components. An adding unit combines each output of a high-frequency LPF and a low-frequency LPF and output the target position. A pan/tilt determination unit determines a panning speed from the shake signal. If the panning is fast, the target positions of the low-frequency and the high-frequency are controlled to converge to 0, and calculation for the target position of the high-frequency starts before that of the low-frequency at the end determination. If the panning is slow, only the target position of the low-frequency is controlled to converge to 0. The pan/tilt determination unit changes a determination condition for the detection depending on whether it is at the handheld photographing or the static state.

  • Patent number: 9743001
Abstract: A method operable within an image capture device for stabilizing a sequence of images captured by the image capture device is disclosed. The method comprises, using lens based sensors indicating image capture device movement during image acquisition, performing optical image stabilization (OIS) during acquisition of each image of the sequence of images to provide a sequence of OIS corrected images. Frame-to-frame movement of the device for each frame during which each OIS corrected image is captured is determined using inertial measurement sensors. At least an estimate of OIS control performed during acquisition of an image is obtained. The estimate is removed from the frame-to-frame movement determined for the frame during which the OIS corrected image was captured to provide a residual measurement of movement for the frame. Electronic image stabilization (EIS) of each OIS corrected image based on the residual measurement is performed to provide a stabilized sequence of images.

Abstract: An image processing apparatus calculates correlation values between a plurality of images with respect to relative positions, and detects a motion vector between the plurality of images based on the calculated correlation values. The image processing apparatus then determines the reliability of the motion vector based on a value indicating the highest correlation among the correlation values and a correlation value obtained at a position that is distant by a predetermined distance or longer from a position at which the value indicating the highest correlation is obtained. In this way, the reliability of the motion vector can be determined with high accuracy.

  • Patent number: 9674442
Abstract: A behavioral recognition system may include both a computer vision engine and a machine learning engine configured to observe and learn patterns of behavior in video data. Certain embodiments may provide image stabilization of a video stream obtained from a camera. An image stabilization module in the behavioral recognition system obtains a reference image from the video stream. The image stabilization module identifies alignment regions within the reference image based on the regions of the image that are dense with features. Upon determining that the tracked features of a current image is out of alignment with the reference image, the image stabilization module uses the most feature dense alignment region to estimate an affine transformation matrix to apply to the entire current image to warp the image into proper alignment.

  • Patent number: 9319586
Abstract: According to an embodiment, a sequence of video frames as produced in a video-capture apparatus such as a video camera is stabilized against hand shaking or vibration by:—subjecting a pair of frames in the sequence to feature extraction and matching to produce a set of matched features;—subjecting the set of matched features to an outlier removal step; and—generating stabilized frames via motion-model estimation based on features resulting from outlier removal. Motion-model estimation is performed based on matched features having passed a zone-of-interest test confirmative that the matched features passing the test are distributed over a plurality of zones across the frames.

Abstract: An image pickup apparatus capable of generating image signals for viewing images shot in a composition (vertical or horizontal) intended by a photographer as a three-dimensional image. The apparatus has an image pickup device for converting an optical image to a picked-up image signal as an electric signal. The device includes a plurality of unit pixels, each of which has a plurality of photo diodes for converting the optical image to the picked-up image signal. When an image pickup operation is performed, a posture of the image pickup apparatus is determined, and the plurality of photo diodes in each unit pixel are grouped into a plurality of photo diode groups according to a result of the determination. A plurality of image signals are generated from picked-up image signals output from the photo diode groups, respectively.

  • Patent number: 9131155
Abstract: A system, method, and computer program product for digital stabilization of video data from cameras producing multiple simultaneous views, typically from rolling shutter type sensors, and without requiring a motion sensor. A first embodiment performs an estimation of the global transformation on a single view and uses this transformation for correcting other views. A second embodiment selects a distance at which a maximal number of scene points is located and considers only the motion vectors from these image areas for the global transformation. The global transformation estimate is improved by averaging images from several views and reducing stabilization when image conditions may cause incorrect stabilization. Intentional motion is identified confidently in multiple views. Local object distortion may be corrected using depth information. A third embodiment analyzes the depth of the scene and uses the depth information to perform stabilization for each of multiple depth layers separately.
