Abstract: A vehicle display system includes a display device, a driver state determiner, and a display controller. The display device is configured to provide a display on a window of a vehicle. The driver state determiner is configured to determine whether a driver of the vehicle is in a normal state. The display controller is configured to control displaying of the display device, depending on whether the driver is in the normal state. The display controller is configured to control the displaying of the display device to provide a display for the driver when the driver is determined by the driver state determiner as being in the normal state, and to provide a display for an outside of the vehicle when the driver is determined by the driver state determiner as not being in the normal state.

Abstract: Methods are disclosed for adaptive display management using look-up table interpolation. Given a target maximum brightness value for a display, a new look-up table (LUT) for color gamut mapping is determined based on interpolating values from two other pre-computed color gamut LUTs; one computed for a first maximum display brightness larger than the target maximum brightness value, and one computed for a second maximum display brightness lower than the target brightness value. An interpolation scale is computed based at least on the target maximum brightness value and the first maximum display brightness. Methods to reduce the computation load for the translation of RGB data from one color representation (say, ST 2084) to another color representation (say, BT 1866) using fast interpolation methods are also presented.

Abstract: Channel jumping is provided for allowing a user to quickly find and jump to desired content on a desired channel. Channel data and metadata and program guide data may be received by a data mining engine. The data mining engine may associate the channel data and metadata with the program guide data and cache the resulting associated channel/guide data. A user may enter a channel name, call letters, or a name of a program in a user interface, wherein a channel jumping application may search the channel/guide data for a match. If a match is found, the application may jump provide for jumping to the desired channel or if more than one match is found, the application may populate a list of possible matching channels to provide to the user.

Abstract: A system and method for group-based media composition is disclosed. This system has three modules. The first one is a grouping module, which associates content files into groups. This allows content files to be grouped logically or temporally. The second module is an operation selection module, which allows operations to be applied to each content file. The third module is a composition module, which uses the grouping and content operation information to create a desired composition.

Abstract: Innovations in reconstruction and rendering of panoramic video are described, including the use of a platform rendering engine to provide a screen projection based on a view direction specified for an application through an interface. For example, based at least in part on the view direction specified for the application, at least a section of panoramic video in an input projection is identified. At least some of sample values of the at least a section of the picture of panoramic video in the input projection are mapped to a screen projection. The screen projection is output for display to a buffer for the application. Thus, an application may use panoramic video, including updating a view direction, without itself having to render a screen projection for the panoramic video.

Abstract: A distribution system and reception apparatus, and methods thereof, are provided for broadcasting and receiving a plurality of non-backwards-compatible services. The broadcasting method includes receiving, by a first service provider, a plurality of first services, which include a first service from each of the first and second service providers. The first service provider generates a first broadcast multiplex, including the plurality of first services, and broadcasts the first broadcast multiplex on a first broadcast channel allocated to the first service provider. A second service provider receives a plurality of second services, which include a second service from each of the first and second service providers. The second service provider generates a second broadcast multiplex, including the plurality of second services, and broadcasts the second broadcast multiplex on a second broadcast channel allocated to the second service provider.

The server device sends an instruction to the second client device to commence the playback of the content feature upon a display of the second client device in response to the request. Status updates regarding the playback may be provided to the first client device by the server device.

A corresponding program stored at the AV device having a recording media such as a hard disc drive, is then reproduced upon a menu screen such that image data stored at the AV device can be easily observed.

In example embodiments, a graphical user interface having an EPG including a plurality of rows of thumbnails representing programs is presented on a device of a user. Each row of thumbnails may be navigated independent of other rows. A navigational input is received via a touchscreen of the device. The navigational input indicates an action performed on the graphical user interface that triggers a realignment of programming information presented on the EPG. An updated EPG with the realignment of the programming information indicated by the navigational input is then provided.

Abstract: An audio video device (AVD) such as a smart TV allows profiles to be defined on the TV. A user accessing the TV can select one of the profiles to have the TV instantly configure itself for the accessing user. Abstract: An interactive television program guide system is provided in which a user may use the program guide to watch one program while simultaneously recording another program without interrupting the recording or viewing process. This interactive television program guide system also allows a user the to utilize all or some of the program guide features while in the watch and record mode depending on the embodiment that is being implemented. Further, this watch and record system may be implemented using a multiple tuner set-top box or a single tuner set-top box with a RF bypass or digital switch. The system selects similar users whose program view history is similar to that of a recommended user, maps the program view history in a collaborative filtering matrix registers, in the collaborative filtering matrix, a virtual user whose program view history includes a group of hit programs obtained based on a search condition served for realizing a predetermined search topic. The system also counts the numbers of reservations or views achieved by each user according to program content based on the program view history, in the collaborative filtering matrix, which counted numbers are set as matching numbers, and outputs a search result representing a recommendation list of the contents arrayed in the descending order of matching number.

A memory stores a plurality of video clips and an audio track having a timeline. An application is stored in the memory. A controller receives data representing selected stream parameters from a browser residing on a computing device. The controller transmits the received data to a video transmitting device. A transcoder receives a first data stream generated according to the selected stream parameters from the video transmitting device. The transcoder generates a second data stream from the first data stream, the second data stream formatted for browser display; and then transmits the second data stream to the browser. A user may remotely control the video transmitting device using the browser. A user may view data streams from multiple video transmitting devices using the browser.

Each media listing can include text (inexpensive information) and thumbnails (expensive information). While the user scrolls through the media listings, the new listings can only include text. Once the scrolling stops, the missing thumbnails can be downloaded and integrated into their corresponding listings.
