For example, each time the OSD screen is displayed, the OSD screen is moved by one pixel and then displayed. The corresponding high definition program channel is a channel which provides the same program as on the selected standard definition channel but in high definition. When the auto tune function is enabled and a corresponding high definition channel is available, the device, e.g., set to box or tuner implementing the auto tune feature of the present invention, automatically tunes to the high definition channel instead of the standard definition channel.

The touch display panel includes a display layer and a touch layer. The touch screen controller detects the touch layer and outputs a first detection result. The display circuit displays a first image of a first image source on the display layer, and the display circuit has the OSD menu function. In a normal display mode, the multiplexer transmits the first detection result of the touch screen controller to the first image source. If the first detection result complies with a predetermined pattern, the OSD menu function of the display circuit is triggered, and the display circuit enters a screen adjustment mode, and the multiplexer transmits the first detection result of the touch screen controller to the display circuit.

When the communicating unit receives a wireless signal carrying information of a selected executable program transmitted by the remote control apparatus, the control unit obtains an executable program from the storage unit according to the information carried by the wireless signal and generates a first control signal and a second control signal. The remote control apparatus provides a remote control interface corresponding to the selected executable program in response to the first control signal. The TV executes the selected executable program and provides an operation interface corresponding to the selected executable program in response to the second signal. The available television channels are displayed in a first window of the guide. The television series associated with the available episodes are displayed in a second window of the guide. In response to selecting one of the available television channels, the available television episodes are narrowed to the television series that air on the selected television channel. In response to the selection of one of the television series, episodes of the selected television series are displayed in a third window of the guide. Selecting an episode displays the episode information in a fourth window of the guide.

Abstract: A peripheral control system enhances expandability in the operation of peripheral by enabling the customization and display of operation panels for each of the peripherals, regardless of whether any operation panel exists at the display device side. The peripheral control system is configured by connecting a TV and a recorder via an HDMI connection. The TV stores operation panel information that includes array information for arraying, on the screen, image data of the operation buttons that comprise the operation panel of the recorder. The recorder stores image data of the operation buttons, and sends, according to operation panel information obtained from the TV, the aforementioned stored image data of the operation buttons in association with the array information to the TV. The TV disposes and displays image data of the operation buttons sent from the recorder, at a position that is in accordance with the array information.

The portable device receives content guide data from a first server and displays a content guide on a display. In response to a user's selection of a content item, the portable device requests the content item over the Internet from a second server. When the overlay is displayed on top of video for a given television channel of the plurality of television channels, the overlay may include information of the default set of information types.
