Abstract: Service mode data is stored in a television chassis or set by duplicating all the data that is accessible by service mode, i.e. by storing the same data twice, in two separate areas of a single memory device or two separate memory devices. A “working memory” is always accessible by the chassis. A “reserved memory” is normally not accessible by the chassis. At the factory, the same service mode data is input to both the working memory and the reserved memory. The chassis microprocessor would normally only access the working memory. If any data in the working memory is changed (intentionally or not), the original factory data can be recovered from the reserved memory and copied to the working memory by executing a specific access operation.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to display devices, external storage devices and methods of operating the same. In some embodiments, a display device that detects a coupling with an external media device is provided. Before device coupling, the display device displays a video signal from a first source. In response to the detected coupling, the display device may mix or superimpose a video signal received from the external storage device with the video signal from the first source. In some embodiments, a multi-mode external storage device that provides a file download mode, a video menu mode, and a content display mode is disclosed. The external storage device is operative to couple with different types of hosts via a multi-use device port. In response to a detected coupling with a host display device, the external storage device adopts the menu mode, which allows a user to select a given content item for display and/or playback.

  • Patent number: 8115874
Abstract: Memory storage requirements for digital signal processing operations, for example, motion-compensated video scan rate conversion, that produce intermediate output data, which is then used as an input to the operation, are reduced by reordering operations and organizing memory allocations in a special manner to allow intermediate output at a particular execution time, to substantially share the same memory space as the intermediate output of a previous execution time. Such a reduction in the amount of memory required for processing operations advantageously reduces cost and power consumption.

  • Patent number: 7911537
Abstract: Provided is a multichannel video reception apparatus of a mobile communication terminal for digital broadcasting. An RF processor receives a broadcast signal of a digital broadcast service via an antenna. A baseband processor processes the received broadcast signal in a baseband. A controller controls the RF processor and the baseband processor to receive the broadcast signal including video frames of a main channel and a sub-channel. A memory stores a program code, reference data, and updatable user data, for an operation of the controller. A video processor receives the video frames of the main channel and the sub-channel, decodes the latest key frame of the sub-channel if a key frame of the main channel occurs while decoding the video frames of the main channel, and after decoding the key frame of the sub-channel, decodes the frames of the main channel. A display divides the decoded video signal into a main-channel image and a sub-channel image and separately displays the images.
