    Abstract: Provided is a display device, including a substrate including pixel areas which are disposed in a matrix form including pixel rows and pixel columns, a thin film transistor formed on the substrate, a pixel electrode connected to the thin film transistor, a common electrode formed on the pixel electrode to be spaced apart from the pixel electrode with a microcavity therebetween, a liquid crystal layer filling the microcavity between the pixel electrode and the common electrode, a roof layer formed on the common electrode, a liquid crystal injection hole formed in the common electrode and the roof layer to expose a part of the microcavity, and an overcoat formed on the roof layer so as to cover the liquid crystal injection hole to seal the microcavity. A cross section of the microcavity has a reverse-tapered trapezoidal shape in which an upper width is larger than a lower width.

    Abstract: The present disclosure relates to the field of liquid crystal display, and particularly to a frame seal structure on a substrate, a substrate, and a liquid crystal display device. The frame seal structure comprises a primary seal and an assembly process dummy seal. The assembly process dummy seal is formed in an area between the primary seal and an edge of the substrate, and consists of a plurality of sub-seals which are arranged discontinuously. The present frame seal structure is a novel frame seal structure which is proposed with respect to drawbacks of the process dummy seal during assembling with a VIF process in a liquid crystal display device with post spacers. By virtue of the novel frame seal, the peripheral region of the substrate will not be pressed airtight during assembling, so that the gas can be discharged, and poor sealing in a certain area is avoided.

The color filter substrate comprises a sealant and a pixel area, with a retaining ring disposed therebetween, wherein the retaining ring is prepared from the siloxane side-chain liquid crystal elastomer or the elastomeric material. The liquid crystal panel is prepared by assembling and aligning, under vacuum, an array substrate and the color filter substrate. By applying a ring of the elastomeric material having a network structure between the sealant and the pixel area according to the invention, it is possible to effectively prevent the impact of liquid crystal on the sealant during cell assembly and alignment, such that the undesirable phenomenon like penetration is minimized.

    Abstract: A method of manufacturing a liquid crystal device having a first substrate and a second substrate facing each other with a liquid crystal layer interposed therebetween, and a sealing member formed in a peripheral portion of at least one of the substrates. The method includes forming the sealing member, disposing the liquid crystal layer inside the sealing member, and bonding the first substrate to the second substrate. In forming the sealing member, a ring-shaped portion that seals the liquid crystal layer inside the sealing member, a first sealing layer and a second sealing layer that face each other to be separated from each other are formed. In the bonding of the first substrate to the second substrate, a junction portion is formed in which the first and second sealing layers are pressed and joined outside the sealing member so as to form the ring-shaped portion.
