  • Patent number: 7117543
Abstract: A nose protection shield designed to be custom fitted to the exterior shape of a nose which is constructed of a hydrophilic thermoplastic having a thickness of between one-half millimeter to one millimeter. The nose protection shield is constructed by making a cast of the person's nose by applying a first hardenable material onto the nose, causing this first hardenable material to harden, removing the cast after such is hardened, filling of the cavity of the cast with a second hardenable material, permitting the second hardenable material to harden to form a model, removing the model from the cast, placing a thin, flexible plastic sheet on the model, drawing a vacuum in proximity of the model which causes the sheet to be drawn tightly against the model, apply heat for a short period of time to the sheet to a sufficient level to cause the at-rest shape of the sheet to be deformed and assume the new configuration of the model, and then removing of the sheet from the model.

  • Patent number: 6959989
Abstract: A system for attaching safety glasses to headwear often called a “helmet” or a “hard-hat” has multiple adjustments that fit the glasses to the individual user and that allow the user to flip the glasses back and forth between in-use and removed positions. The preferred system includes a base piece that attaches to the interior or underside of the helmet, near the wearer's face at or near the junction of the helmet's bill/brim and dome. A preferred second piece receives a portion of the glasses at its distal end, and, at its proximal end, slideably connects to the base piece. The second piece may be locked at various positions relative to the base piece, to adjust, either incrementally or continuously, the distance of the glasses from the helmet. This slidable adjustment between the base piece and second piece makes it possible to adjust the glasses in a generally vertical direction, that is, generally parallel to the plane of the lenses of the glasses when being used, as best suits the particular user.

  • Patent number: 6935742
Abstract: A strap that has two hooks placed on the ends and a curved clip in the center of the strap. The strap is elastic so that it holds onto a hat brim firmly. Once in place, the strap stays on the brim until it is needed. Because there is no large clip, the strap can be used on sun visors as well as hats. To store eye ware, the user places the eye ware on the brim and flips the curved clip over the bridge of the glasses. To release the glasses, the user simply flips the curved hook back, thereby releasing the glasses. Moreover, the user can easily remove the strap when it is not needed. Thus, the device does not permanently alter the look of the hat. Finally, because the device hooks onto the brim, it does not alter the feel of the hat when worn.

  • Patent number: 6935741
Abstract: An eye shield and head gear assembly with an attachment device which includes a support arm having one end portion that fastens by a first fastening means to the underside of the visor of a head gear and the other end portion that fastens by a second fastening means to the back side of the eye shield to mount the eye shield on the head gear. The support arm pivots at the first fastener to enable the eye shield to be moved between a retracted position under the visor and an extended position to shield the eyes. The second fastening means is movable along the back side of the eye shield in one embodiment or the support arm is length adjustable in a second embodiment so that the eye shield does not extend beyond the front edge of the visor in the retracted position and to allow the head gear to be adjusted to different elevations on the head in the eye shielding position.

  • Patent number: 6647554
Abstract: A cap having a versatile sunglass retainer and retainer enable retention of glasses of all sorts having temples and end pieces that can be passed into and held between the cap-retainer enclosure. The retention patch may be generally square and flat in shape and sized appropriately for use with a cap, such as a baseball cap. The top edge of the patch may be indented to give it a convex shape at the bottom of which a fifth fastener may be set in conjunction with the other four fasteners at the corners of the patch. Five openings are then defined between the fasteners through which the end piece of the glasses may pass. Engagement of the end pieces and temples of the glasses by the cap-patch enclosure serves to retain the glasses on the head of the wearer when the cap is worn. The retention patches are generally used in pairs so that both end pieces and temples of a pair of glasses may be engaged and better retained on the head of the wearer.

The first end is attached to the anterior edge of the bill by folding the first end over the anterior edge and sewing it to the inferior surface of the bill close to the anterior end. The second end of the band is sewn into the seam which attaches the posterior edge of the bill to the cap body. The band is slightly stretched when sewn onto the bill in this manner, so that the band is unobtrusive when not containing the sunglasses.

  • Patent number: 6142623
Abstract: This highly balanced, nose-independent type of eyewear device keeps optical devices securely positioned before the eyes in previously unobtained, carefree comfort. It also allows micro-positioning of optical devices at definite placements. Select device of the method likewise stows glasses, handy on, both above and below line-of-sight. The head, including ears is used extensively, but not the nose or other face, except and unless by the margins. Typically tensile strap (70) or one or more rigid cranial-crown extensions (72) [dubbed pate-pieces] extend to the top of the head from somewhere along distally counterweighted, glasses earpieces. Alternately a counterweight-and-support line (34) is strung from a [whimsically chosen] counterbalancing mass (32) behind the head to support the front. Counterpoised cranial support inherently lends more latitude to eyewear design. This type of support promises to spawn an explosion of pleasing, exciting new eyewear.

  • Patent number: 6052823
Abstract: Sunglasses and a sun visor attached to a headband in an opposed configuration, such that only one or the other accessory is used at a given time. The alternate accessory is carried behind the head where it serves to close the circle of the headband. This secures the device on the user's head during vigorous activity and in windy conditions such as encountered in beach sports, cycling, boating, skate-boarding, etc.. The user wears either the sunglasses or visor forward, thus protecting the eyes with the sunglasses, or allowing full ventilation for the eyes on hot days by using the visor. In addition to its practical uses, the unique appearance of the device provides a marketable attraction.
