  • Patent number: 10724590
Abstract: A hinge for eyeglasses, which includes first elements for pivoting to a front of eyeglasses, and second elements for pivoting to a temple of eyeglasses, and which include a leaf spring that defines a cavity. The second pivoting elements include an abutment head that can rotate about a rotation axis and is configured to be associated rigidly with one end of the temple. The abutment head includes a protrusion inserted into the cavity of the leaf spring so as to be retained in the cavity. The rotation of the abutment head about the rotation axis in a first direction of rotation produces the flexing of the leaf spring by the protrusion and the consequent rotation of the temple.

  • Patent number: 9250450
Abstract: An article for temporarily affixing to the skin of a wearer about the wearer's nose to support eyeglasses worn by the wearer includes a flexible body having a back surface and a front surface, with the back surface including an adhesive for temporarily retaining the article on the skin of a wearer. The body includes a pair of edges that define the width of the body with the body being sized to be disposed on a wearer's nose. A protrusion is disposed on the front surface of the body, with the protrusion extending above a plane defined by the front surface. The protrusion is configured for engaging eyeglasses worn by a wearer when the article is affixed to the wearer's nose to thereby inhibit the eyeglasses from slipping down the wearer's nose.

  • Patent number: 9069191
Abstract: The present disclosure provides an eyeglass structure having flexible temples, comprising: a main body; and two flexible plastic temples respective connected at two ends of the main body. The two flexible plastic temples each have a front portion proximal to the main body and a rear portion extending from the respective front portion. The degree of flexibility of the rear portions is greater than that of the front portions. The rear portions can be bent to from a support structure for the ear portion of a user. By this configuration the conformity and comfort of the eyeglass structure is improved.

  • Patent number: 9052502
Abstract: Exemplary methods, systems and components enable an enhanced direct-viewing optical device to make customized adjustments that accommodate various optical aberrations of a current user. In some instances a real-time adjustment of the transformable optical elements is based on known corrective optical parameters associated with a current user. In some implementations a control module may process currently updated wavefront measurements as a basis for determining appropriate real-time adjustment of the transformable optical elements to produce a specified change in optical wavefront at an exit pupil of the direct-viewing device. Possible transformable optical elements may have refractive and/or reflective and/or diffractive and/or transmissive characteristics that are adjusted based on current performance viewing factors for a given field of view of the direct-viewing device.

  • Patent number: 9033497
Abstract: Exemplary embodiments enable an enhanced direct-viewing optical device to include customized adjustments that accommodate various optical aberrations of a current user. Customized optical elements associated with an authorized current user are incorporated with the direct-viewing optical device to produce a specified change in optical wavefront at an exit pupil. Possible replacement optical elements may have refractive and/or reflective and/or diffractive and/or transmissive characteristics based on current performance viewing factors for a given field of view of the direct-viewing optical device. Some embodiments enable dynamic repositioning and/or transformation of replaceable corrective optical elements responsive to a detected shift of a tracked gaze direction of a current user. Replaceable interchangeable corrective optical elements may be fabricated for current usage or retained in inventory for possible future usage in designated direct-viewing optical devices.

  • Patent number: 8919951
Abstract: Safety glasses for experienced cyclists have a small diameter, unobtrusive, adjustable and removable mirror mounted thereon for establishing a rearwardly directed line of sight so that the cyclist can see a vehicle, including an automobile, motorcycle, or another cyclist, approaching from behind. The mirror is mounted on a stem that is magnetically attached to the gasses frame and extends forward from the frame. The magnetic attachment is sufficient to allow ready adjustment of the angle of incidence of light to establish the desired rearwardly directed line of sight and to fix the line of sight in place after adjustment. The glasses frame has a small disc-shaped neodymium magnet of from about 1 to 2 or 3 pounds force pull strength embedded in the face frame to the wearer's left and the mirror stem has a cooperating corresponding magnet mounted opposite the mirror. Larger mirrors may be desirable for use by less experienced cyclists.
