  • Patent number: 11036064
Abstract: People with (AMD) Adult Macular Degeneration have great difficulty seeing, because their damaged retina sees double vision and distortion. The vision loss is a deterioration of light sensing cells of the retina. Direct or reflecting sunlight and headlights cause extreme glaring and distortion. There are magnifying binocular-fitted eyeglasses for precise detail, and an eye patch, which entirely blocks out all vision, which puts strain and pressure on the dominant eye. Not much is offered to block bright glare, distorted images and double vision associated with AMD. This invention enables adults and children with AMD to self-apply a stick-on eyeglass multi-colored filter UV protectant disc, placed only in front of the affected eye's pupil, on the front of the eyeglass lens. According to an aspect of the disclosure, a metalens-based eyewear devices is provided. The eyewear device includes one or more lenses. Each lens comprises a substantially transparent lens body. Each lens further comprises at least one metalens integrated with the body. Each metalens comprises a respective substantially transparent substrate, and a respective plurality of subwavelength structures arranged on the substrate in a pattern to interact with visible light. The lens body may be planar. The lenses of such eyewear (including at least one metalens) may be thinner and/or lighter than conventional refractive lenses.

Abstract: The present invention is to provide a full-frame adhesive anti-fog film structure, comprising: an anti-fog film, which has a front side and a back side opposing the front side; and an adhesive, which is disposed at an edge of the back side and arranged along the edge so as to be frame-shaped. The anti-fog film of the present invention is attachable to a planar, cylindrical or spherical lens through the full frame-shaped adhesive so that not only can the anti-fog film be fully attached to the lens but the full attachment of film also prevents bubbles from forming between the two attached surfaces. Also, an airtight space is formed between the full-frame adhesive anti-fog film structure and the lens to stop heat transfer and prevent fog from being formed, so as to not only provide good vision to users but also reduce the chance that the user will fall prey to an accident if the user's view is blocked.

Abstract: Unique 3-PPB monobenzoate analogs useful as plasticizers in polymeric dispersions, such as plastisols, melt compounds, and adhesives among other applications. The analogs are structurally similar to and/or derived from 3-phenylpropyl benzoate and heretofore were not known for use in industrial applications, particularly not as a plasticizer in polymeric applications. Depending on the application, the advantages rendered by the use of the inventive monobenzoate analogs include, among other things, excellent solvating properties and rheology, low viscosity and significantly improved viscosity over time, comparable or improved Tg suppression, set and open times, as well as health, safety and environmental advantages, over traditional plasticizers.

Abstract: Systems, devices, and methods that implement waveguides in curved transparent combiners that are well-suited for use in wearable heads-up displays (WHUDs) are described. Waveguide structures with in-couplers and out-couplers are integrated with curved eyeglass lenses to provide transparent combiners that substantially match the shape, size, and geometry of conventional eyeglass lenses and can, in some implementations, embody prescription curvatures to serve as prescription eyeglass lenses. The waveguides and in-/out-couplers are planar or curved depending on the implementation. WHUDs that employ such curved transparent combiners are also described.
