Protective Color Patents (Class 351/159.29)
  • Patent number: 10444546
Abstract: An optical filter including a polymeric multilayer optical film is provided. The optical film has a reflection band having a reflection band edge that is, independent of location, one of a short wavelength band edge at a short wavelength side of the reflection band and a long wavelength band edge at a long wavelength side of the reflection band. The reflection band edge has a normal incidence reflection band edge wavelength that varies with location and that is a first wavelength at a first location and a second wavelength at a second location different from the first location. The first wavelength may be higher than the second wavelength by at least 2 percent.

  • Patent number: 10288784
Abstract: The present disclosure provides a blue light filtering film. The blue light filtering film has a non-planar structure such that, for light that is emitted at any incident angle from at least one side of the blue light film, a transmission light of the blue light filtering film involves small chromatic polarization. The blue light filtering film of the present disclosure is configured such that light lengths of the incident light in layers of the film do not change to great extent along with the angle ? and thus chromatic polarization is greatly alleviated, thereby not only achieving the effect of preventing damage caused by blue light but also eliminating chromatic polarization influence due to change of the light length for oblique incident light.

Abstract: An optical system having a transmission pattern comprising at least a first zone Z1 extending from at or about 380 nm to a first limit L1 between Z1, and a second zone Z2. A third zone Z3 extends from a second limit L2 between Z2 and Z3 to about 780 nm. L1 may be greater than or equal to or about 436 nm. Second limit L2 may be greater than L1 and smaller than or equal to or about 487 nm. The average transmission values T1, T2, T3, in each zone Z1, Z2, Z3 may be: T2>5*(T1+T3)/2, with T1 the average transmission over Z1, T2 the average transmission over Z2, T3 the average transmission over Z3. T1 and T3 may be greater than or equal to or about 3% and smaller than or equal to or about 70%. T2 may be greater than or equal to or about 75%.

  • Publication number: 20140055736
Abstract: An improved lens with Rugate filter specifically designed to be worn in prescription and non-prescription glasses, contact lenses, intraocular lenses and sunglasses, and to provide protection against macular degeneration by reducing harmful visible blue light transmission and ocular photochemical damage. The lens at least includes a single lens layer with a Rugate filter deposited thereon to selectively block visible blue light. Other layers may be added including a polarizing layer, dielectric layer and/or color tint in a lens sandwich configuration, to additionally give a high degree of UVA and UVB protection, color contrast, and glare reduction. The Rugate filter is a stop band which yields an exceptional light transmission profile under all light conditions, thereby maximizing protection as well as clarity of vision.

  • Patent number: 8500274
Abstract: An improved dual-filter lens for protective eyewear that combines a first filter for blocking essentially 100% of UV light, and second filter for filtering blue light. The first filter may comprise a multi-layered dielectric mirror layer 14 or Rugate filter 50, and the second filter may comprise dye-impregnated lens layer(s) 16, 18 or Rugate filter 50. The first filter blocks essentially 100% of UV light, while the second filter establishes an increasing transmission profile that cuts on sharply at approximately 415 nm, and establishes an increasing transmission profile between approximately 415 nm to about 475 nm. The cut-on slope rises approximately 0.15% in transmissivity for every nanometer of increasing wavelength change, with a maximum filtering effect within the 440-465 nm range. These dual filters provide a balanced light transmission profile that reduces harmful light transmission and prevents macular degeneration, cataracts and other ocular injuries, while still preserving visual acuity.
