With Antiglare Or Shading Patents (Class 351/44)
  • Patent number: 4070097
Abstract: Ophthalmic anti-reflection coating for use on spectacles with lenses having an eye side and an outside. A first coating is disposed on the eye side of each lens and the second coating is disposed on the outside of each lens. The first and second coatings are formed of a metal layer and a dielectric layer having a low index of refraction. The metal layer in the first coating is adjacent the lens on the eye side and the dielectric layer in the second coating is adjacent the lens on the outside.

  • Patent number: 4068918
Abstract: An eye cooler is described to minimize discomfort of the eye region during sunbathing and, at the same time, to permit tanning of the area covered by the cooler. This is accomplished using a pair of flexible liquid-filled lenses, the walls of the lenses being formed from a very thin plastic film. The lenses are joined to each other by a nose bridge section, and means are included to hold the cooler in place on the wearer in contact with the skin. The liquid within the lenses, such as water, serves as a heat sink whereby heat is transferred through the thin plastic from the skin into the water to provide the cooling effect. In a special embodiment, the plastic and the liquid are chosen so as to provide a desired degree of transmission of the ultraviolet radiation wavelengths which produce tanning. The u.v. transmission of the total lens can be made equivalent to that of suntanning preparations, for example.

  • Patent number: 4045125
Abstract: A band filter adapted to pass only a band of determined wave length of the electromagnetic spectrum and comprising a support, at least partially transparent in the considered band, covered on one of its surfaces by a filtering element constituted of three metallic layers separated respectively by two layers of transparent material. The filter can employ anti-reflection coatings and binding and adherency layers.

  • Patent number: 3972319
Abstract: Novelty glasses by which the wearer can visualize the rate and evenness of his breathing. The glasses comprise a conventional eyeglasses frame which supports a pair of multifaceted lenses in the lens support positions of the frame. Rotatably attached to the frame is a lightweight projection plate bearing a light-transmissive pattern. The plane of rotation of the projection plate is substantially parallel to the plane of the lenses, and the lateral distance between the plate and the lenses is easily adjusted. A stiff nose strap attached to the projection plate extends in an arc which passes under the wearer's nose when the lateral position of the projection plate is properly adjusted. The strap supports a slidably attached nose sail which can be positioned at any point along the strap to optimally intercept the nose-exhaled breath of the wearer.

  • Patent number: 3963330
Abstract: Apparatus for improving vision under conditions of relatively low intensity ambient illumination. An improved lens is of the concave meniscus type and has a total power in the range of between about 0.12 to 1.50 diopters. In addition, the lens is designed to attenuate radiation transmitted through it of wavelengths below about 5400 A. An anti-reflectant coating may also be provided on the rear surface of the lens to reduce glare.
