By this means, a current status of a management target document that changes every moment can be updated and managed in detail in real time.

Abstract: An image processing program product enables an image processing apparatus to perform operations including the steps of: storing a plurality of image information to be transmitted by a facsimile apparatus; sequentially outputting the stored image information; reading a mode list from a mode list recording unit on which a list of modes for images to be transmitted has been described; converting an image in accordance with the mode indicated by the mode list; and transmitting the converted image information to the facsimile apparatus. The converting includes a transmission data forming step for adding a transmission destination described in the mode list recording unit to the outputted image information and for forming transmission data based upon the mode of the image described in the mode list recording unit.

A creation section creates a different job log for each individual user. The job log has storage conditions of image data included in the job log set according to a storage level. The storage conditions are a color of an image, a resolution of the image data and whether or not necessary to create OCR data of the image data. To increase efficiency of a follow-up research by using such a job log, the storage level of the image data relating to the user having performed unauthorized use is raised.

In a regular reading mode, the memory is divided into a first buffer that stores therein first image data of an image of a first side of the original and a second buffer that stores therein second image data of an image of a second side of the original. In a ring buffer mode, only the first image data is stored in the first buffer and the second buffer in a seamless manner, and the first image data stored in the buffers is output from the buffers to an image processing unit through an output path in a parallel manner. When a size of an original to be read is larger than a predetermined size, reading is performed in the ring buffer mode.

Abstract: A method or corresponding apparatus for remote transmission of a negotiable instrument. In an example embodiment, the process provides a carrier that secures a negotiable instrument. Next, the process creates a unique identifier, associated with the carrier, and generates an electronic image of the negotiable instrument. After generating the electronic image, the process transmits the electronic image of the negotiable instrument and the unique identifier to a remote location. The negotiable instrument may be transmitted via a fax, a scanner, a device designed to transmit electronic data, other image device compatible with ITU-T recommendations T.30 or T.4, or combination thereof. The process may also verify the negotiable instrument has a valid endorsement, verify image quality of the electronic image to ensure compliance with financial industry standards, or validate any received security information.

The method includes automatically acquiring image data and associated records for documents being processed by a plurality of image output devices within an organization and archiving the image data and associated records as image logs for the processed documents. When a request for document production is received by the organization, the image logs (and/or information extracted therefrom) are automatically filtered through at least one classifier trained to return documents responsive to the document request, and documents corresponding to the filtered out image logs are output. One of the filters may be configured for filtering privileged from non-privileged documents.

The fractal data is sent to a search server 2. In the search server 2 are stored plural pieces of fractal data showing structural features of an image of a specific object and keywords expressing specific objects corresponding respectively to the plural pieces of fractal data. The search server 2 searches for images on the Internet 1 using as the keyword corresponding to the fractal data sent from the digital camera 4. Further, the search server 2 obtains fractal data of objects in the searched image, and calculates a degree of coincidence based on the similarity between the obtained fractal data and the fractal data sent from the digital camera 4, and successively sends the digital camera 4 the images whose degree of coincidence is larger than a certain reference.

The system and method further compares each of second minimum blocks with a corresponding first minimum block in a standard electronic document line by line, and obtains the second minimum blocks having different coordinates on each line. Furthermore, the system and method simplifies the obtained second minimum blocks having different coordinates by filtering designated objects, and marks the simplified second minimum blocks in the test electronic document.

Abstract: A data management system includes a client apparatus, an image processing server, and a database. The client apparatus sets whether to extract text data from a print rendering command. According to the data management system, an appropriate text extraction method can be set according to an application. When a setting for extracting text data from a print rendering command has been performed, text data is extracted from a print rendering command output during print processing by the application. The extracted text data is sent to the image processing server together with printed image data. On the other hand, when a setting for extracting text data from a print rendering command has not been performed, the printed image data is sent to the image processing server. If no text data is received from the client apparatus, the image processing server performs optical character recognition processing on the printed image data to extract text data.

Abstract: A system for identifying digital content related to a portion of a block of text receives, automatically or via input by a user, an indication of one or more words included in the block of text. The system searches a database of digital content based on the one or more words and retrieves from the database one or more digital content items or identifiers of digital content items that are related to the one or more words. The system provides the retrieved digital content items or identifiers to the user, and receives a selection of one or more of the provided items or identifiers from the user. The system associates for display or replay the one or more selected digital content items with the one or more words in the block of text. Other embodiments of the system are also disclosed.

Abstract: A method for associating text with image data of documents is herein described. The method includes receiving image data of a document with manually marked text and recognizing the manually marked text. The image data is then annotated (e.g., tagged) using the manually marked text and the image data of the document is stored. When manually marked text is recognized, recognized text may be generated for annotating the image data of the document and used to populate a field associated with the image data. The field may be a name of the document or a subject line of an e-mail message, for example. A method including identifying the location of manually marked text in a first scanned document to automatically identify and annotate text in a corresponding location in a second scanned document is also disclosed.

Abstract: A network scanner, communication protocols, and client and server programs and are provided which provide an improved way to transmit legally binding documents, obviating the need for outmoded, legacy fax transmissions. Using the network scanner, a document may be scanned and transferred directly into any shared folder inbox residing on any computer attached to the Internet. Enhanced server systems and network communications and messaging protocols are provided that are more practical to use than email for sending documents such as executed legal documents or other documents requiring robust integrity and authenticatability. Similarly, the inventive network scanner, server systems and communication protocols provide improved ways to perform large file transfers and to manage bandwidth to minimize problems associated with uploading/downloading large files as attachments to/from email servers and for enabling user control over VoIP quality during file transmission sessions.

Abstract: In a client PC, after receiving drawing data, the log information generation unit (400) of a printer driver (203) refers to the current time, and collects a keyword, print job attribute item, and the like which satisfy an extraction condition corresponding to a time period including the current time. The log information generation unit groups the collected pieces of information into a log information file (320), and saves it in a log information storage server (1000). A search unit can read saved log information from the log information file in accordance with a desired search condition. The system administrator or the like inspects the read log information, and if information may leak, investigates it.

At least one genre classifier is trained to classify document images as being associated with one or more genres based on the features of the document images in the set of document images, the features of the plurality of tiles of the set of documents images, and the one or more genres associated with each document image in the set of documents images.

Abstract: A facsimile machine receives image data, generates a password for received image data, assigns the generated password to the received image data, and stores the received image data. Information indicating a notification destination is extracted from the received image data, and the notification destination is notified of the password. The received image data are output responsive to subsequent input of the password at the facsimile machine. This scheme provides password protection without forcing users to register and remember passwords, and without the risk that a compromised password may be used for unauthorized output of facsimile data received later.
