  • Patent number: 7153010
Abstract: A lamp body for a vehicle lighting unit includes a PC/PTT alloy material in which 80 to 50% by weight of a polycarbonate resin (hereinafter referred to as a PC) and 20 to 50% by weight of a polytrimethylene terephthalate resin (hereinafter referred to as a PTT) are contained as principal components and 5 to 10% by weight of a filler is added with respect to the total weight of the PC and the PTT. The lamp body constituted by the PC/PTT alloy material can be thermally welded to a lens formed of the PC, and has a heat resistance, a chemical resistance and a bending rigidity which are almost identical to those of a lamp body formed of a polypropylene. Therefore, the lens and the lamp body can be bonded and integrated by a thermal welding method.

Abstract: A lamp structure improved for convenient assembling comprises of: a lamp housing, and a circular ring piece, a lamp holder, and a lamp locking-collar all assembled in the lamp housing sequentially. The housing has holes on the surface for extending a wire through and has a stepped portion on its inner wall. The circular ring piece is placed in the lamp housing supported and fixed by the stepped portion, on one side of the circular ring piece there is an adjustable compressible portion with a notch. The lamp holder receives therein a lamp bulb, and it has a protrusion on the external periphery to be engaged in the notch provided on the compressible portion when the lamp holder is mounted; the lamp holder abuts against and fixed on the circular ring piece. The lamp locking-collar and the lamp housing both have grooves for extending an elongate member (spring) through to increase its stability of the lamp after assembled; and the lamp locking-collar has thereon gaskets for waterproof.

A pressure regulating valve is mounted on the sealing casing to communicate with the interior chamber for regulating an interior pressure thereof in equilibrium with respect to an atmosphere pressure. Therefore, when the interior pressure of the sealing casing is larger than the atmosphere pressure, the pressure regulating valve opens for releasing the interior pressure within the interior chamber until the interior pressure reaches the atmosphere pressure.

First and second LED light source groups are formed by arranging a plurality of LED light sources back-to-back in a row. First and second lens groups are formed by arranging a plurality of Fresnel lenses for forming light from each of the LED light sources into parallel light fluxes with the directions of the parallel light fluxes of each LED light source group being aligned. First and second reflectors are provided for reflecting the parallel light fluxes from each of the lens groups forward of the lamp.

Abstract: A discharge lamp is disclosed comprising an enclosed discharge vessel for the generation of an electrical discharge and a casing made of glass which surrounds the discharge vessel. In order to achieve as constant properties as possible over the service life of the lamp, it is proposed that the glass material of the casing be doped with sodium in a concentration of at least 10 ppm, and preferably at least 30 ppm. According to a further embodiment, it is proposed that other alkali metals (except for sodium) be contained in a maximum concentration of 25 ppm. Surprisingly, by the appropriate choice of the outer bulb, not in direct contact with the actual discharge, the diffusion of sodium from the discharge vessel is reduced. In addition to this, the material of the outer bulb has a reduced inclination to crystallization.

The means for imaging and focusing the near field image is a convex optical lens having a radius of curvature equal to twice the overall thickness of the lens. The optical lens is installed in fixed spaced relation to the LED such that the lens is imaging the reflector cup of the LED rather than the light on the surface clear LED housing. The lighting assembly is enclosed in a flashlight housing having a means for operating the lighting circuit, a means for retaining a power source and a key ring extension with a slidable latching mechanism.

Abstract: Disclosed is a intelligent light source that is capable of providing a uniform illumination image across the surface of an illuminated object analyzed by an optical detector. This is accomplished by individually controlling each light-emitting element of a linear array of light elements. Calibration of the array is accomplished by sequentially illuminating each optical element of the source and building an array of normalized detected data. The matrix is then inverted and multiplied by a linear array of ones to generate the calibration data. The calibration data are then used to program a simple logic device that allows accurate digital control of the intensity of each individual light element.
