  • Patent number: 7226170
Abstract: A projector with air cleaning functionality is equipped with a negative ion generator. The negative ion generator is positioned along a cooling airflow route of the projector and is adjacent to a lamp module. A photo-catalyst sheet, which is stimulated by ultraviolet light emitted from the lamp module, can produce the negative ions quickly. The air, which is circulated along the cooling airflow route, carries the negative ions out of the projector so as to clean air in the surroundings.

  • Patent number: 7198386
Abstract: The present invention is designed to overcome the problems with MCPCB technology, which includes conductive solid body, typically copper or aluminum, typically having rods extending therefrom. This conductive solid body is fastened in place by a body constructed of typically plastic/Delrin® that the copper rods may be pressed or installed into. This body may be conductive or non-conductive. Each LED is mounted to a standard printed circuit board (PCB) or flexible circuit board that contains through holes large enough to fit the metal bottom of the LED through the hole far enough for the LED to make contact with the face of the solid body. Typically, board thickness of 0.032? or less is required for this to work effectively. The LED is glued to the face solid body via a thermally conductive, electrically neutral adhesive. The LED may also be adhered via thermal tape, thermal pad, or held against the solid body via its solder joints where no bonding of the LED is required.

  • Patent number: 6863421
Abstract: A lamphouse (100) is configured to accommodate and cool an image projector lamp (300). The lamphouse receives through an air intake opening (111) cool airflow (A1) drawn by a fan and is equipped with an internal chamber (130) and plural internal fins (120). Plural exhaust openings (110) on the downstream side of the lamp reflector (310) and burner (310) are arranged essentially perpendicular to the direction of flow of air (A1) heated by the lamp and such that, when the airflows from the surroundings (A1) and (A2) are mixed in the area immediately after the lamphouse, a resulting airflow (A3) will, upon reaching projector exhaust openings (410), have a substantially uniform and relatively low temperature. The exhaust openings (110) are configured so that the heated airflow is mixed with the cooler airflow before striking the projector chassis reaching the projector exit grill.

  • Patent number: 6843585
Abstract: A mounting assembly (10) for an electrodeless 1 amp (100). The mounting assembly (10) comprises a fixture housing (14) having an inner surface (16) and an outer surface (18). The fixture housing is preferably made from aluminum. Spaced-apart heat sinks (20, 21) are affixed to the inner surface (16) of the fixture housing (14). A reflector (22), which is preferably concave, as is the fixture housing, is positioned within the fixture housing (14). The reflector (22) contains two apertures (24, 26) that are aligned with the heat sinks (20, 21). Thermal insulators (28, 29) are positioned in the apertures and surround the heat sinks, thus thermally isolating the reflector from the heat sinks. The lamp (100) is mounted in the fixture housing by attaching brackets (40, 42), which surround the ferrite transformer cores of the lamp, directly to the top surfaces of the heat sinks (20, 21).

  • Patent number: 6783263
Abstract: An adjustable reflector device is disclosed. The device consists of an adjustable double parabolic reflective skin with an adjustable lamp mount, incorporating a V-shaped perforated heat shield, attached. The two part reflective skin forms a double parabolic shape when flexed back against a reinforced spine. This flexible shape is secured by lengthwise adjustable chain retainers attached a both ends of the skin. The lamp mount slides onto a pair of threaded bolts secured to the skin and adjustment is achieved by tightening or loosening the appropriate nuts. The heat shield slides onto the lamp fitting and is positioned appropriately to deflect incident heat and light. This device can be used to provide variable conditions of artificial illumination.

Abstract: The optical apparatus of the present invention comprises; an optical member such as a lens; a casing containing the optical member; a gas supply device that supplies gas at a predetermined flow rate to inside the casing; and a gas introduction mechanism that reduces the flow rate of the gas supplied to inside the casing to below the predetermined flow rate. The casing has an inlet through which gas is supplied from the gas supply device to the inside. The gas introduction mechanism comprises an impingement member which is disposed between the inlet and a surface of the optical member, and the gas introduced from the inlet impinges against the impingement member. As a result, contamination of the optical member due to gas introduced to inside the casing can be reduced.

  • Patent number: 6736527
Abstract: A xenon arc lamp for a motion picture projector is cooled by providing the anode end of the lamp with a shroud that forms part of a support for that end of the lamp. Cooling air flows into the shroud along the support arm and enters the shroud through a slot in its side wall. The shroud provides an annular air space around the anode end of the lamp and has an annular air outlet through which the cooling air leaves as a “sheet” of laminar air flow which tends to adhere to the surface of the bulb, thereby providing precise cooling. In this way, arc instability is avoided or minimized, while lamp life is extended.
