Abstract: The apparatus is designed to modify the quality of a beam of light while maximizing the amount of light directed along a desired trajectory. The light optimization device contains an aperture, a diffuser, a modifying substrate, and a mirror. The aperture enables light to travel through the mirror. The diffuser splits a single beam of light traveling towards the modifying substrate into multiple beams of light, which are traveling towards the modifying substrate. The modifying substrate becomes excited when struck by light, and then produces light with desired characteristics. The mirror reflects light that is generated by, or reflected off of, the modifying substrate, and traveling along suboptimal trajectories. As such, the reflected light is redirected towards the modifying substrate.

Abstract: An adjusting unit disposed between a housing including at least one or more semiconductor optical devices and a case accommodating an SMPS, so as to adjust the height of the casing. At least one or more light emitting modules are mounted on the bottom surface of the housing, and a position determining unit is disposed in the housing in correspondence to an edge of the light emitting module. A heat sink unit is provided in correspondence to the top surface of the housing. Therefore, transport costs can be significantly reduced by securing the loading space. The semiconductor optical devices serving as a light source can be appropriately arranged, and the semiconductor optical devices can be mounted at accurate positions. Furthermore, products can be rapidly mass-produced due to a simplified manufacturing process thereof.

Abstract: A laser reflecting has a low transmittance at one or more laser wavelengths while substantially transmitting all other wavelengths in the spectral range of interest, is coated on one or both sides of an absorbing or non-absorbing substrate. A laser reflecting filter on both sides of an absorbing substrate can result in an enhancement of the absorption of laser light by multiple reflections of the laser light in the absorbing substrate. The high transmittance of the laser-reflecting filter at non-laser wavelengths results in a relatively high overall transmittance through the coated substrate. In the specific case of laser reflecting coatings on a lens to protect an eye, this allows a high luminous transmittance and good colour discrimination.

  • Patent number: 8970131
Abstract: Solid state lighting apparatuses are adapted to operate with alternating current (AC) received directly from an AC power source. An exemplary apparatus includes a substrate and multiple sets of one or more solid state light emitters disposed over the substrate. Multiple sets of solid state light emitters are configured to be activated and/or deactivated at different times relevant to one another during portions of an AC cycle, and optionally have different duty cycles. Emitter configurations, color combinations, and/or circuit components reduce perceivable flicker, color shifts, and/or spatial variations in luminous flux. Color temperature and/or beam pattern are adjustable. Multiple emitters are arranged along non-coplanar substrate portions.
