  • Patent number: 6854862
Abstract: An adjustable light includes a knock down base frame, a vertical frame, which supports a boom arm, which in turn supports a light fixture. The light fixture is supported on the boom arm by a fixture mount that provides five degrees of freedom of movement of the light fixture relative to the boom arm. The boom arm is pivotally mounted to the vertically adjustable frame, thereby providing two additional degrees of freedom to the light fixture relative to the ground. The base frame includes two legs that are movably secured to the base frame. The base frame and the legs include wheels, the wheel supports being movably mounted to the frame and legs to allow for free movement on any planar surface on which the adjustable light is supported. The boom arm and the shield of the light fixture include bumpers to prevent damage by inadvertent contact to a surface. The lens in the fixture is replaceable to allow the user to use different lenses as dictated by the job requirements.

  • Patent number: 6853041
Abstract: The present invention provides an apparatus and method for a new class of micro-machined electromechanical devices that make use of vibrating membranes. The electromechanical devices include two or more electrodes which are positioned with a membrane. A gap exists between the membrane and each electrode which may vary for each electrode. In general, one electrode is used as an input electrode which receives an electrical signal that causes vibration of the membrane. The vibration of the membrane is then coupled to a receiving or an output electrode. A DC bias voltage is applied to the electrodes to set or modify a width of a gap in the electromechanical device. The electromechanical device could be designed as a transformer, a capacitor, a resonator or a filter. In addition, the device includes a control voltage to dynamically change the coupling between the input electrode and the output electrode(s).

  • Patent number: 6848806
Abstract: An indirector light fixture is described wherein the fixture is comprised of a reflector housing and a ballast housing connected together by a support arm. The reflector housing may be positioned relative to the ballast housing by movement of the support arm and maintained therein by a ratchet and pawl mechanism or other rotational restriction device. The ballast housing and ballast electronics are connected to the lamp within the reflector housing by ballast feed wires which are maintained internal of the entire fixture thereby preventing the wires from becoming entangled during installation or after installation. Additional structure is provided to further allow adjustment of the head angle relative to the ballast housing.

Abstract: The components of an adjustable light fixture mounting assembly are secured during adjustment of a light in a lighting system. A knuckle joint with a locking taper secures an upper knuckle half to a lower knuckle half. The locking taper secures the adjustment of the knuckle halves, even if the knuckle screw becomes loosened. In a further embodiment, an O-ring seal between a double locking taper seals the knuckle joint from moisture. A rotating locking clamp secures the lower knuckle half to a nipple with a reverse taper on both the lower knuckle half and the nipple, while allowing rotation of the lower knuckle half with respect to the nipple. Stop pins in the lower knuckle and nipple cooperate with an interior profile of the rotating locking clamp to allow 360 degrees rotation of the lower knuckle half with respect to the nipple.
