Plural Injectors Patents (Class 366/172.1)
  • Patent number: 7320583
Abstract: An apparatus and associated method for varying the color and/or flavor of an extruded food product during a single production run of a single extrusion device. The apparatus includes a multi-additive injection system, which is attached to a fluid supply line of an extrusion device. The injection system is comprised of a plurality of additive supply tanks, which are each in fluid communication with the fluid supply line via an injection manifold, and a metering mechanism which selectively controls the amount of additive injected into the supply line by each individual supply tank. The injection system may also include a central control mechanism for calibrating the amount of additive injected into the supply line and for maintaining a constant fluid volume added to the extrusion device. Each of the additive supply tanks may contain a different colorant and/or flavoring. Two variants of the injection manifold are provided as well as a novel injection sequence for use with the disclosed system.

  • Patent number: 7252429
Abstract: A rotary fluid agitator is provided. The rotary fluid agitator essentially comprises a fluid conduit that is positioned vertically within a storage tank holding a quantity of fluid, such as a drilling fluid. At least one nozzle is attached to the fluid conduit for jetting a stream of fluid into to the fluid contained within the tank. A drive means is connected to the fluid conduit and rotates the conduit to sweep the nozzle through a 360-degree arcuate path at a predetermined rotational frequency. A fluid pump is attached in fluid communication with the interior volume of the tank and pumps a quantity of drilling fluid through a fluid circulation line and through the fluid conduit to be jetted out of the nozzle. As the nozzle is swept through the arcuate path a conically shaped fluid flow path is created in the fluid contained within the tank causing the jetted fluid to tangentially act upon the fluid thereby keeping all solid particulates mixed with the fluid in suspension.

  • Patent number: 7172336
Abstract: An oil phase solution injected into a mixing flow path from an upstream injection inlet forms a flow from an upstream injection inlet to a discharge outlet, and a rotary blade is provided downstream of a mechanical seal. Thus, a reverse flow toward a mechanical seal of a polyvalent isocyanate and a polyol injected from an inlet downstream with respect to the mechanical seal tends not to take place. A separating film member is provided to prevent the chemical solutions flowing in the mixing flow path from coming into contact with a pressing means, which is for pressing a seal ring member of the mechanical seal against a rotation ring member. A reaction product is not adhered to the pressing means of the mechanical seal, which would decrease the pressing force, and leakage of the liquid from the mechanical seal can be effectively prevented.

Abstract: This invention provides a mixing chamber that utilizes several tined cylinders to convey materials through the mixing chamber for applying liquid additives to the materials. Each of the tined cylinders includes a number of spring biased tines extending from the surface of the cylinder. The tined cylinders are arranged within the mixing chamber such that, as the tined cylinders rotate about an axis, the spring biased tines engage the materials within the mixing chamber and “sweep” them along towards a discharge opening of the mixing chamber. As the materials are conveyed through the mixing chamber, an additive liquid, typically containing various chemicals, colorants, dies, and/or paints, is sprayed onto the materials. In this manner, liquid additives are applied to materials more evenly and more thoroughly, resulting in a more consistent finished product.

Abstract: A diffuser provides the ability to diffuse one or more infusion materials into a host material. A rotor and stator rotate relative to one another. The infusion materials are drawn through openings in the rotor and stator. These openings are also causing turbulence within the host material, which is flowing through an area between the rotor and stator. As aligned openings pass one another, succussion occurs, which provides energy to diffuse the infusion materials into the host material to an extremely high degree. The opening patterns in the rotor and stator can be designed to operate at a single frequency or at multiple frequencies. The frequencies of operation may affect bonding between the infusion materials and the host material and may also be effective in break down of complex molecular structures.

Abstract: A diffuser for incorporating one or more infusion materials into a host material. The diffuser includes a rotor 12 and stator 30 rotating relative to one another. The infusion materials are drawn through openings in the rotor and stator. During movement of the rotor, the openings cause cavitation of the host material in the channel 32 resulting in diffusion of the infusion materials through the openings and into the host material. The opening patterns in the rotor and stator can be designed to operate at a single frequency or a multiple frequencies. The frequencies of operation may affect bonding between the infusion materials and the host material and may also be effective in breakdown of complex molecular structures.

  • Patent number: 6299343
Abstract: A method of heating and/or homogenizing of various liquid food products by means of a steam-liquid injector (1) is disclosed. The method complies feeding of steam and a liquid product into a mixing chamber (3) through corresponding nozzles (2, 4) and then accelerating the flow of the product to a maximum speed depending on particular processing operating parameters. The acceleration is carried out without exceeding the speed at which the static pressure of the flow matches the saturation pressure of the product at the input temperature. The steam and liquid product are mixed within the mixing chamber (3) and then compressed to obtain condensation of steam within the product.
