  • Patent number: 4228389
Abstract: A non-reversible battery and mounting assembly for an electrically powered watch includes a battery having a casing defining a generally cylindrical configuration with an annular radially extending shoulder adjacent one end thereof for engaging an inwardly directed shoulder on a battery cavity of a component housing. The shoulder within the component housing being positioned such that the battery will fit within the cavity in only one orientation with a retaining ring engaging the flange on the battery case for retaining the battery within the housing. The back of the battery also serves as the back of the watch case eliminating the need for a separate back therefor. The retaining ring is provided with a hole for receiving the point of a ballpoint pen or similar object for use in removing the retainer ring.

  • Patent number: 4222228
Abstract: Waterproofing of a watchcase is achieved by a sealing ring disposed between the periphery of the watch glass and a bezel portion of the case and confined between the glass holder ring on which the watch glass rests and an inturned lip portion of the bezel which retains the watch glass. By being disposed between the periphery of the watch glass and the bezel, the sealing ring is concealed from view by the inturned lip portion of the bezel and a more attractive watch is thereby achieved. A second sealing ring is provided between the bezel portion of the case and the case back to provide a seal therebetween.

  • Patent number: 4218873
Abstract: A sealed, shaped watch-case has a rim formed with a rectangular interior defined by a wall in which a annular groove is formed around the rim interior. The watch movement is supported in the rim by an elastically compressible retaining ring held in compression axially of the case by a circular, annular retaining part formed with radially outwardly extending projections. These projections are insertable into the rim by disposing them at corners of its rectangular interior until they are level with the groove so that rotation of the retaining part locates them in the groove to lock the retaining part in position. The case also has a base welded to an annular frame which is an interference push fit on the retaining part.

  • Patent number: 4216650
Abstract: An alarm wristwatch comprises a watchcase having a back with an inclined peripheral portion and a watchband attached to the watchcase at opposite sides. A transducer for generating an alarm signal faces a cavity provided in a rear portion of the watch case. A plurality of sound holes provided in the inclined peripheral portion of the watchcase back open into this cavity. The second holes are located within an angle of 45.degree. on either side of the longitudinal center line of the watchband so that they are not blocked or muffled by the arm of the wearer. The cavity and sound holes are so proportioned as to constitute a Helmholz resonator by which the sound produced by the transducer is intensified and efficiently transmitted to the exterior of the watchcase.

  • Patent number: 4194354
Abstract: Disclosed is a timer provided with a cord so that the same may be worn as a pendant. The timer comprises two mating half housings, one of which carries a cap having a notch and secured to the adjacent housing by a screw or other suitable means. Intermediate the cap and the adjacent housing half is a stirrup shaped along its length to conform generally to the contour of the housing and extending through the notch and into the cap where it has an eyelet on one end through which the screw holding the cap passes to secure the stirrup in place. The other outer end of the stirrup has a loop. The ends of the cord pass frictionally through the loop and along the length of the stirrup, through the notch in the cap and are positioned within the cap and gripped securely between the cap and the adjacent housing half.
