  • Patent number: 11412422
Abstract: A wireless device receives a radio resource control message from a base station that indicates a handover from a first cell of the first base station to a second cell of a second base station. During the handover, a DCI from the second base station is received that indicates a random access channel occasion. The random access channel occasion is determined and used to transmit a preamble to the second base station. Once a response to the preamble is received, the wireless device transmits a message to the second base station to indicate a completion of the handover.

  • Patent number: 10873650
Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure provide methods, systems, apparatuses, and computer program products to provide application layer, Medium Access Control (MAC) layer, and physical (PHY) layer functionality by separate discrete devices, for example, in order to form a distributed MAC/PHY architecture for communications networks. In various embodiments, an application layer (layer-3) device can communicate (e.g., serialize and/or send data frames and/or packets) with a MAC layer (layer-2) device. Further, the layer-2 device may perform the activities of a switch that switches the IP layer (layer-3) information to MAC layer information. Further the layer-2 device can use addressing information determined or received from the layer-3 device to choose a particular PHY layer (layer-1) device. The layer-2 device can then instruct the layer-1 device, using one or more parameters, to modulate information on one or more predetermined frequencies and/or wavelengths over a given physical medium.

  • Patent number: 10805874
Abstract: A wireless data relay has radio circuitry to wirelessly scan a frequency band having frequency channels. The radio circuitry attaches to a wireless network over the frequency band. The radio circuitry receives signaling from the wireless network indicating allowed frequency channels and transfers the signaling to control circuitry. In the wireless data relay, the control circuitry processes the signaling to direct the radio circuitry to use the allowed frequency channels instead of the frequency band. In response, the radio circuitry wirelessly scans the allowed frequency channels instead of the frequency band. The radio circuitry wirelessly re-attaches to the wireless communication network over the allowed frequency channels. The radio circuitry exchanges user data with the UEs. The radio circuitry exchanges the user data with the wireless network over the allowed frequency channels.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are system, method, and computer program product embodiments for dynamically applying network functions to traffic flows based on heuristics, policy conditions and client-specified conditions. A network monitors a network traffic flow to determine whether the network traffic flow meets a first criterion of a first rule. The criterion specifies that when the first criterion is met a network function be used to analyze or process the network traffic flow. When the network traffic flow is determined to meet the first criterion, the network determines a first route through the network to a network function provider that provides the network function and configures one or more routers along the first route to forward the network traffic flow to the network function provider for analysis or processing.

Abstract: In distributed communication networks, the signal received at the destination is characterized by unknown multiple carrier frequency offsets (MCFOs) and improper channel state information (CSI). The knowledge of offsets and channel gains are required for coherent deployment of distributed systems. Hence, joint training sequence (TS) design method is proposed for joint estimation of MCFOs and channel estimation over spatially correlated channel. Thus, the present invention provides a method of providing joint estimation for distributed communication systems with multiple antennas at the nodes over spatial correlated channels. The designed optimal training sequences are short length and spectrally efficient. The designed training sequence produces zero cross-correlation, facilitating channel estimation without matrix inversion, significantly lowers the complexity of the estimation algorithm.

Abstract: A method or corresponding apparatus is employed for distributing media on a ring network. Multiple nodes and communications links are configured to distribute media in the ring network. Distribution of the media is disabled on a communications link between a selected pair of adjacent nodes in the ring network in a manner maintaining communications between the selected pair of adjacent nodes other than for distribution of the media. This configuration results in a “horseshoe” topology of the ring network with respect to the media, where distribution of the media on the ring network occurs in one or two downstream directions from head-end ingress node(s) on the ring network. Virtual Private LAN Service (VPLS) may be employed to transport the media. In an event of a link or node failure, the disabled link is enabled, allowing for continued distribution of the media with network recovery in a timeframe typically unobservable by an end user.

A set of possible paths are determined for routing data packets from a root node to one or more other nodes of the set of nodes. A set of probabilistic values are identified for determining a path in the set of possible paths that individual data packets are to take as between the root node and a destination node specified by the individual data packet. The data packets are routed to the destination node specified by that data packet, along a path that is determined by use of the set of probabilistic values. The path may be provided by one or more VLANs.

Abstract: A timer for processing data blocks is proposed for a receiver of a mobile communications system. If the timer is not running, the timer is started based a data block. The data block has a sequence number higher than a sequence number of another data block that was first expected to be received. If the timer is stopped or expires, the timer is based on a highest sequence number of a data block among data blocks that cannot be delivered to a higher entity. The timer can be used to prevent a stall condition in mobile communications.

Abstract: Embodiments generally disclosed herein include methods and systems for calculating incremental network costs between logical city pairs in a network (each city pair being in communication across the network via one or more physical links). For example, the method includes a cost analyzer that, for each physical link in the network, determines a steady state capacity allocation associated with each city pair in the network and, in the same vein, determines a restoration capacity allocation associated with each city pair in the network. The cost analyzer is capable of calculating an incremental cost per unit of traffic for a given city pair based on: i) the steady state capacity allocation and a restoration capacity allocation associated with a given city pair, as compared to, ii) the aggregate steady state capacity allocations and restoration capacity allocations associated with each city pair in the network.

Abstract: Multiple cooperative relays operate in a highly mobile environment and form a virtual antenna array. Multiple independent streams of data can be simultaneously, transmitted in parallel to the destination receiver. Thus a higher spatial multiplexing gain can be obtained. Each relay device that receives the information without errors splits it into multiple streams. For example, if the relay devices receive B symbols and the number of streams is K, each stream contains B/K symbols. Each relay device then generates a random linear combination of all the streams and transmits this output simultaneously with the other relay devices.

Abstract: It is provided a data transmission system comprising a transmitter, a repeater and a receiver. The transmitter and the repeater are coupled through a first transmission path and the receiver and the repeater are coupled through a second transmission path. The transmitter, the repeater and the receiver have virtual lanes. The transmitter demultiplexes the transmission data into as many data streams as a number of useable virtual lanes based on useable lane information. The repeater monitors failures of the transmission lanes of the first transmission path and the virtual lanes. The receiver monitors failures of the transmission lanes of the second transmission path and the virtual lanes, selects the useable virtual lanes, sends to the transmitter the useable lane information, corrects a wrong order of the received data streams and a shift of reception point in the virtual lanes, and restores the demultiplexed data streams into the transmission data.

  • Patent number: 8462805
Abstract: A graceful restart (GR) method of a router, and a router and a communication network thereof are provided. The method includes the following steps. A control plane enters a GR state. Label switched path (LSP) packets sent by a neighbor router are received, and the label information of the control plane is recovered according to the LSP packets. Whether the label information is completely recovered is determined. If the label information is completely recovered, the GR state is exited, and label information of a forwarding plane is updated according to the recovered label information of the control plane. The GR method of a router, the router, and the communication network decide whether to exit the GR state by detecting whether the label information of the control plane is completely recovered. This can precisely control the time of exiting the GR state is controlled and improve the reliability of the router.
