Duplex Patents (Class 370/276)
  • Patent number: 7257091
Abstract: A coupling facility is coupled to one or more other coupling facilities via one or more peer links. The coupling of the facilities enables various functions to be supported, including the duplexing of structures of the coupling facilities. Duplexing is performed on a structure basis, and thus, a coupling facility may include duplexed structures, as well as non-duplexed or simplexed structures.

Abstract: A high-frequency circuit has a duplexer and a filter. The duplexer performs wave separation of send and received signals as input thereto. The filter filters the input send signal. When the send and received signals of the first modulation method are input, the send signal and the received signal of the first modulation method are wave-separated and output by the duplexer. When the received signal of the first modulation method is input, the send signal and the received signal of the first modulation method are wave-separated and output by the duplexer, and the send signal of the second modulation method is filtered by the filter.

The phase shifted data pulse may be used to generate an ultra-wideband pulse for transmission. The modulated data pulses and cyclic signal may be gated such that the data pulse and only a monopulse of the cyclic signal pass through the logic gate. • Patent number: 7126929
Abstract: A wireless communication unit provides (10) a first signal as received from a first portion (11) of a single antenna and provides (13) a second signal as received from a second portion of the antenna, which in a preferred embodiment can comprise a feedline (12). The two signals contain information that is cross-coupled with respect to one another as a function, at least in part, of the structure of the antenna. A digital processing platform (34) de-couples (17) these signals to permit recovery of the original payloads. In one embodiment similar approaches are used to facilitate cross-coupling of signals and transmission of such cross-coupled signals from different portions of a single antenna structure. In another embodiment, both transmission and reception are facilitated by a common platform.

Abstract: An asymmetric modem communications system achieves high speed data transfers through a telephone network that includes both digital and analog communications mediums. In general, the system includes means for concurrently communicating first and second signals, respectively, in opposite directions along the connection between the communications devices and means for modulating the first and second signals with different modulation techniques. The communications occur in full duplex manner. In a possible implementation, a digital modem is interfaced to a digital network. The digital network is connected with a coder/decoder (codec). The codec is interfaced with a two-wire analog telephone connection, sometimes referred to as a copper loop. The telephone connection is interfaced with an analog modem. Both the digital and analog modems have a transmitter and a receiver.

Abstract: A circuit is provided for time division duplexing with a frequency hopping technique and has a total of just two frequency synthesizers for the transmission and reception paths and only one up-converter in the transmission path. The UHF synthesizer frequency is additionally subjected to frequency division prior to insertion as a heterodyne frequency of the assigned converter in the transmission and reception paths, which, owing to the shorter transient recovery times, makes it possible to utilize the UHF frequency synthesizers at different frequencies for the transmission and reception slots, respectively. A particular application is in cordless telephones.

  • Patent number: 6738470
Abstract: A distributed system of gateways for establishing telephone communication connections between digital telephone service (e.g., DSL) subscribers and analog subscribers. A DSL subscriber's telephone connection includes digital and analog channels. In one method of operating the system, when a DSL subscriber initiates a telephone call to a party that is not a subscriber to the same service, the call is routed through a DSL Access Multiplexer to a digital network. A portal or directory server on the digital network determines that the called party is not a subscriber and therefore locates a “pass-through” subscriber served by the same central office as the called party. The portal routes the call to the pass-through subscriber, where the call is transferred from the digital channel of the subscriber's DSL connection to the analog channel. It is then directed back to the central office and switched over the local loop to the called party.

Abstract: The system has a demodulator for duplex data transmission with quadrature amplitude modulation via two conductors with two oppositely transporting channels. The channels include an “upper” channel with a higher frequency band fo±Bo/2 and a “lower” channel with a lower frequency band fu±Bu/2. The two frequency bands do not overlap each other. Each of the channels transmits two digital signals at a respective symbol frequency fT, and the received modulated carrier signal is so sampled at a sampling frequency fAo in the case of the upper channel and fAu in the case of the lower channel, respectively. The frequencies are chosen in such a way that fo/fu is a rational number K and fAo=2fo.

Abstract: In the present invention, the available delay budget for a full-duplex communication is distributed between the links depending on their activity, present and near history. By keeping track on if a link in a full-duplex communication system is active or inactive, i.e. knowing the information value of the transferred data, coding procedures having larger coding delays than normally accepted can be used for active links, if the opposite link simultaneously is inactive. Since the user sensibility for delays is as largest at the moment a link becomes active, coding procedures having smaller coding delays than normally used are assigned at the moment a link becomes active. The coding delay is subsequently increased. Preferably, the round-trip delay is controlled to be kept smaller than a requested maximum value.

Abstract: A TDMA radio terminal comprises a transmitter portion and a receiver portion. A reference signal is launched in the transmitter portion while tuning the receiver portion. At the same time, an internal delay counter is started. The counter counts clock pulses till the reference signal returns through the receiver portion. Letting this pulse count be Nd, a transmission wait time is Nt−Nd. Nt is a transmit timing at the antenna. The Nd counting operation may be triggered by a power on or a signal from a controller. A corresponding method for determining the transmission wait time in the production side is also disclosed.

Abstract: A system and method which improve the performance of a wireless transmission system by intelligent use of the control of the flow of data between a radio network controller (RNC) and a Node B. The system monitors certain criteria and, if necessary, adaptively increases or decreases the data flow between the RNC and the Node B. This improves the performance of the transmission system by allowing retransmitted data, signaling procedures and other data to be successfully received at a faster rate, by minimizing the amount of data buffered in the Node B. Flow control is exerted to reduce buffering in the Node B upon degradation of channel qualities, and prior to a High Speed Downlink Shared Channel (HS-DSCH) handover.

The secondary transceiver is a not a complete radio and is configured to re-use components such as fine gain control and fine frequency stepping of the primary transceiver to produce operational frequencies of the secondary transceiver. The primary transceiver acts like an intermediate frequency device for the secondary transceiver. Switches are utilized to divert signals to/from the primary transceiver from/to the secondary transceiver. The switches are also configured to act as gain control devices. Antennas are selected using either wideband or narrowband antenna switches that are configured as a diode bridge having high impedance at operational frequencies on control lines that bias the diodes.
