Abstract: A network control device, e.g., a gNB, receives a message from a communications device, e.g. a UE, indicating that the communications device is experiencing an in-device coexistence (IDC) problem, e.g. in the 52.6 GHz-71 GHz frequency range with respect to NR-U and WiGig. The message is one of: i) an IDC assistance message indicating that the victim system is Wi-Gig or ii) an antenna panel switch message requesting that the network control device instruct the communications device to change the antenna panel that it uses for uplink NR signaling. The network control device generates and sends a response message to the communications device including: a selected new frequency to be used by the communications device for uplink NR signaling or a selected different antenna panel to be used by the communications device for uplink NR signaling. The communications device implements the change reducing or avoiding the IDC problem.

  • Patent number: 11750353
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for transmitting a periodic channel quality report (CSI) and/or a sounding reference symbol (SRS) from a UE to an eNodeB. To avoid double decoding at the eNodeB in transient phases, a deterministic behavior of the UE is defined by the invention, according to which the eNodeB can unambiguously determine whether the UE will transmit the CSI/SRS or not. According to one embodiment, the UL grants and/or DL assignments received until and including subframe N?4 only are considered; UL grants and/or DL assignments received by the UE after subframe N?4 are discarded for the determination. Additionally, DRX-related timers at subframe N?4 are considered for the determination. In a second embodiment, DRX MAC control elements from the eNodeB, instructing the UE to enter DRX, i.e., become Non-Active, are only considered for the determination if they are received before subframe N?4, i.e., until and including subframe N?(4+k).

Abstract: Systems, methods, and apparatus for operating RAN and CN nodes are disclosed. An example method of operating a RAN node includes receiving, from a CN node, a PDU for a wireless device that is in an inactive state. The RAN node pages the wireless device in response to receiving the PDU from the CN node. The RAN node sends a non-delivery message to the CN node in response to failure of the paging for the wireless device, where the non-delivery message includes an indication that the wireless device is in the inactive state. An example method of operating a CN node includes the CN node sending a PDU for a wireless device to a RAN node. The CN node then receives a non-delivery message from the RAN node, where the non-delivery message includes an indication that the wireless device is in an inactive state.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a pre-5th-Generation (5G) or 5G communication system to be provided for supporting higher data rates Beyond 4th-Generation (4G) communication system such as Long Term Evolution (LTE). A method and system for managing data transmission in a communication network is provided. During Data Resource Bearer (DRB) creation, network signals to a transmitting node, the data transfer requirement. The network uses a signaling parameter to indicate a large data transfer requirement. Based on the data transfer requirement information collected from the network, the transmitting node determines the type of data format that needs to be used for the data transmission. If the network signals large data transfer requirement, then the transmitting node selects a Subheader format in which the length field of the data format suits the large data transfer requirement. Further, data communication is initiated using the selected Subheader format.

  • Patent number: 11751111
Abstract: Disclosed are methods and systems for improved wireless terminal roaming. In some embodiments, a management module determines access point density metrics for a plurality of centrally managed access points of a communications site. The density metric considers an average RSSI of access point signals received by other access points of the site, and each access point's contribution to the average. A determination of whether a particular wireless terminal roams is based on the density metrics of the source and target access point, as well as statistics relating to a current capacity of each of the access points. The disclosed embodiments may determine that a wireless terminal should transition/roam away from an access point even when that access point's RSSI value at the wireless terminal is above a threshold that would cause traditional methods to inhibit roaming.

Abstract: The disclosure provides a method of operating a communication network. The method includes receiving input data related to a state of the communication network and operation of the communication network. The method then includes determining a policy for the communication network based on the input data. The policy is a set of features for forming a plurality of communication links in the communication network over a time interval. The plurality of communication links provides one or more paths through the communication network. Determining the policy is based at least in part on utility values of previous policies. The utility values of previous policies are derived using simulation and/or real-world implementation of the previous policies. The communication network is then operated to implement the policy in the time interval.
