    Abstract: Embodiments for dynamically resizing buffers for a slab allocator process are described. The slab allocator informs the consumer that the memory buffer must be shrunk to a smaller size. A buffer allocation process dynamically reclaims portions of larger memory buffers to make room for a smaller allocation by shrinking data objects in larger slabs and returning slabs to reserve or free slab lists. Initially a large limit is set, and it is dynamically reduced once all the available memory is exhausted. This allows the slab allocator to adapt to the workload.

    Abstract: One embodiment of the present invention provides a wireless system. During operation, the system can determine a set of contiguous virtual sequence numbers and a virtual traffic category indicator for a set of packets belonging to different traffic categories associated with a network protocol stack. Each packet includes an original sequence number and an original traffic category indicator. The system then generates an aggregate frame comprising modified packets of the set of the packets. The system modifies a respective packet by modifying a payload of the packet to include the original sequence number and the original traffic category indicator of the packet and modifying a header of the packet to include a virtual sequence number of the set of contiguous virtual sequence numbers and the virtual traffic category indicator. The system determines that a wireless medium for a wireless transceiver is available for transmitting the aggregate frame.

The functionality updates the bit routing table by storing information identifying the bit position and the port in the entry, such that the bit position and the port both correspond to the MAC address. This functionality can be used to route packets in a BIER environment.

The output time stamp is generated to compensate for delays between receiving the input time stamp and transmitting the output time stamp such that output time stamp which is transmitted at a time T corresponds to the value that the input time stamp would have had if it had been received at time T (and not at a time earlier than T). This may, therefore, reduce or eliminate independent time stamp errors and jitter caused by multiple disparate systems and processes.
