  • Patent number: 11146415
Abstract: A message-limiting mechanism for enabling computing devices to self-organize into groups based on network proximity can entail the transmission of values based on hierarchical evaluation such that only a computing device having a most extreme value continues to transmit. The values utilized can be randomly generated and their broadcast can facilitate the identification of computing devices that are proximate, by network distance. Each computing device can retain a most extreme value received, unless a value generated by that computing device itself is more extreme, in which case the computing device can continue periodic broadcasts of its value. Each computing device can report its retained values, or its own value if no values were retained, and groupings can be generated based on the values reported by the computing devices. The grouping of computing devices can then facilitate the identification of peers, including for purposes of downloading content from such peers.

  • Patent number: 11088785
Abstract: Radio Link Control ACK/NACK is conditionally suppressed. A first wireless communications device including a radio transmitter identifies a first packet flow for which end to end packet retransmission is supported. The first wireless communications device identifies a Packet Data Convergence Protocol (PDCP) packet corresponding to Radio Link Control Acknowledged Mode (RLC AM), said identified packet being included in the identified first packet flow. The first wireless communications device generates an Acknowledged Mode Protocol Data Unit (AM PDU) including a No RLC ACK Required (NRAR) indicator set to indicate RLC ACK is not required, and the radio transmitter in the first wireless communications device transmits the AM PDU, e.g., an AMD PDU, to a second wireless communications device. In one embodiment, this functionality includes receiving information from a host, and determining whether the information comprises a MAC address that is a bit-indexed explicit replication (“BIER”) MAC address. In response to determining that the information comprises a BIER MAC address, this functionality creates an entry corresponding to the MAC address in a bit routing table. This functionality also analyzes the information to determine a bit position that is associated with the host, and also determines a port via which the host is reachable. The functionality updates the bit routing table by storing information identifying the bit position and the port in the entry, such that the bit position and the port both correspond to the MAC address. This functionality can be used to route packets in a BIER environment.

Abstract: Time stamp replication within wireless networks is described. In an embodiment, a wireless station receives an input time stamp and uses this input time stamp to generate an output time stamp. The wireless station transmits the output time stamp to wireless stations in one of a number of groups which make up the wireless network. The output time stamp is generated to compensate for delays between receiving the input time stamp and transmitting the output time stamp such that output time stamp which is transmitted at a time T corresponds to the value that the input time stamp would have had if it had been received at time T (and not at a time earlier than T). This may, therefore, reduce or eliminate independent time stamp errors and jitter caused by multiple disparate systems and processes.

The method includes determining splitting of transmission of a flow of data destined for the wireless device between the first radio access network node and the second radio access network node according to the obtained predicted traffic throughputs. The method includes initiating traffic steering of the flow of data between the first radio access network node and the second radio access network node according to the splitting.

  • Patent number: 10660112
Abstract: A method regulates transmission rate during a transmission of audio/video data over a network link between a sender and a receiver. The method comprises a first mode not using any return information from the receiver, executed at the start of the transmission, where the only possible modification to the transmission rate by the sender is an increase, and at least one second mode implemented following the first mode using at least one item of return information from the receiver. A change from the first mode to a second mode takes place when return information indicates that the transmission rate has reached a maximum rate available on the network link. The transmission rate is shared between a useful-data rate budget comprising the audio/video data and a secondary-data rate budget not necessary for the decoding of the audio/video data. The secondary budget is used for exploring the capacities of a network link.

  • Patent number: 10433205
Abstract: A method performed by a network node for retransmitting a Radio Link Control, Protocol Data Unit (RLC PDU), to a UE is provided. The UE and the network node operate in a wireless communications network. The UE is configured to use Discontinuous Reception (DRX). When an RLC PDU transmitted to the UE is indicated to not being received by the UE, the network node determines (601) a time until a first DRX on-duration time period that is possible to allow time for Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request (HARQ) operations to complete a retransmission of a Medium Access Control (MAC) PDU. The MAC PDU is associated to the RLC PDU. The network node then initiates a retransmission (603) of the RLC PDU to the UE according to the determined time.
