  • Patent number: 11870590
Abstract: A method for data transfer includes transmitting a sequence of data packets from a first computer over a network to a second computer in a single RDMA data transfer transaction. Upon receipt of a second packet in the sequence without previously having received the first packet, the second computer sends a NAK packet over the network to the first computer, indicating that the first packet was not received. A retransmission mode is selected responsively to the type of the transaction, such that when the transaction is of a first type, the first packet is retransmitted from the first computer to the second computer in response to the NAK packet without retransmitting the second packet, and when the transaction is of a second type, both the first and second packets are retransmitted from the first computer to the second computer in response to the NAK packet.

Abstract: An automated machine wherein messages exchanged between components of the machine are forwarded to at least one component at a first time point that temporarily stores them and from that component to a central unit at a second time point is disclosed. Said first time point preceding said second time point within the framework of a cycle time of the automated machine. The time points are determined relative to that cycle time and provided to respective components in conjunction with a startup of the automated machine. The component temporarily storing messages forwards them in the manner of a layer-3 switch. This message forwarding is driven by the respective time points, rather than event-driven, can operate seamlessly in existing systems wherein communications are time-slot controlled, and decouples the components so that real-time communications within the machine can be optimized.

During a packet insertion operation, the processing unit is for reading data from the system memory, processing the data to generate the packet insertion information, and directly transferring the packet insertion information to the insertion module. By directly transferring the packet insertion information generated by the processing unit to the insertion module, memory bandwidth requirements of the system memory are reduced, and data access of the system memory is improved.

  • Patent number: 8806262
Abstract: An interconnection system is described where data lanes may be exchanged between lines at intervals along a transmission path so that the differential time delay between bits on a plurality of the lines is reduced when determined at a receiving location. The data lanes may be bound to the lines through the operation of a configurable switch, or by a configurable switch in conjunction with predetermined manufactured connections, or a combination of the techniques. The wiring of a connectorized node module, which may include a memory device, may be configured so that the differential time delay between pairs of input lines of a node, as measured at the output of a node, is reduced.

  • Patent number: 8644312
Abstract: A system that facilitate broadcast of a device discovery beacon by a dynamic physical device wishing to bind to one or more control systems are provided. If the dynamic physical device comprises of server that is configured to bind to multiple master controllers, the dynamic physical device may include a device Type Flag and set the value of the device Type Flag to indicate the dynamic physical device comprises a server. On detection of the beacon, a master controller evaluates the device Type Flag if it is present in the device discovery beacon. If the device Type Flag is present and indicates the dynamic physical device comprise a server which may bind to multiple master controllers, the master controller may automatically load a device Module for the dynamic physical device and commence commutations with the dynamic physical device with no manual intervention.

  • Patent number: 8644305
Abstract: Systems and methods for modeling a bus for a system design are provided. In an embodiment, the method operates by accepting a virtual bus model, wherein the model simulates behavior for a bus master and slave device, such that the model accurately simulates the timing and behavior of the transfer of data from master to slave, and, from slave to master devices. The method routes a transaction issued by the master device to the slave device. The transaction has storage for transaction data, or a pointer to transaction data, to be transferred through the transaction. The transaction data is transferred in one or more data payloads and the sender of data sets the length of data payloads to be returned. The data payloads are sent from the sender of data to the receiver of data and may contain one or more bus data beats. This method accurately models the bus timing and behavior of the delivery of one or more data beats as one data payload.

  • Patent number: 8634481
Abstract: In a wireless communication system using multiple antennas at the transmitter and multiple antennas at the receiver, a so called multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) system, a substantial improvement in capacity over the case of no feedback can be achieved using considerably less bandwidth than is required to feedback the channel estimate or channel statistics, by supplying as feedback for each data substream of an overall data stream an indicator of a rate and/or an indicator of a gain for transmission of that data substream. The indicator of the rate and/or the indicator of the gain may be the rate and/or gain directly or an encoded representation of the rate and/or gain. Typically, the best performance is achieved if indicators of both the rate and the gain are fed back. If the invention is implemented for wireless systems, then typically for each data substream there is a separate, independent antenna.

  • Patent number: 8619799
Abstract: A network configuration capable of prioritizing and categorizing paging messages using a deep packet inspection (“DPI”) idle mode agent (“IMA”) is disclosed. Upon receiving downstream traffic addressing to end user (“EU”) equipment in a communication network, the process, in one embodiment, is able to identify forwarding action by comparing the downstream traffic with content of predefined list of a forwarding table. The downstream traffic is directed to an inline DPI agent or DPI IMA if the EU equipment is in idle mode in accordance with comparison between the downstream traffic and the forwarding table. The process categorizes the downstream traffic to a high priority paging category when the downstream traffic matches with one of legitimate push applications stored in a list of legitimate push applications.

Abstract: A network mechanism for a communication network, e.g., Ethernet environment, includes a first control mechanism with an assigned first physical port and a second control mechanism with an assigned second physical port, the first and the second physical port being configured to receive and send data via a transmission medium. The network mechanism is configured such that transmitted data from the first control mechanism are coupled by an internal transmit connector of the first control mechanism via the first physical port into the transmission medium and received data at the second physical port are routed to an internal receive connector of the first control mechanism. Alternatively, received data can be routed crosswise to the other control mechanism, i.e., the control mechanism not assigned to the receiving physical port. The crosswise routing enables the formation of two independent ring-shaped communication paths of different transmit/receive directions within a single physical ring-shaped network.
