  • Patent number: 11005778
Abstract: This disclosure describes systems and methods for priority flow control in a network switching device having two or more egress queue managers for managing egress queues of ports of the network switching device. A first egress queue manager determines respective fill levels of packet data that is buffered in egress queues. The first egress queue manager generates a data structure that relates a port of the egress queue manager at which selected packets are ingressed and a port or an egress queue of the egress queue manager from which the selected packets are to be egressed. The first egress queue manager signals to one or more other egress managers the respective fill levels of egress queues along with other information to enable at least one of the other egress queue managers to make a priority flow control decision for one of the ports managed by the other egress queue manager.

  • Patent number: 10082822
Abstract: One or a plurality of sub-networks are defined in the communications network. Each of the sub-networks includes a plurality of network nodes from the communications network. One or a plurality of the sub-networks represent pre-determined sub-networks, in which respective pre-determined network nodes have both the function of a global slave node and the function of a local master node. The one or the other network nodes of the respective pre-determined sub-networks are local slave nodes. In addition to global synchronization using the global master node and the global slave nodes, local synchronization is also performed in the pre-determined sub-networks using the local master node and the local slave nodes. Thus, in the event of an error outside a pre-determined sub-network, the local synchronization may be continued, whereas the global synchronization is aborted. It is thus avoided that an erroneous synchronization is propagated into corresponding sub-networks.

  • Patent number: 8570764
Abstract: The embodiments of the present invention disclose a backplane and backplane system. The backplane includes at least two service slots with the same function and an exchange slot. Among the pins of different service slots with the same function respectively connected to the exchange slot, at least two pins are arranged to resemble a stepped form. When arranged in this manner, the distribution and orientation of the connection lines connecting the pins of the service slots with the same function to the exchange slot may be adjusted, and wiring density within a single wiring layer may be increased, which therefore enables the connection lines between the service slots and the exchange slot to be staggered from each other in less wiring layers or even one wiring layer, and as a result, decreases the number of the wiring layers to be used, and reduces the costs of the backplane.

Abstract: Delivering multicast data traffic over a communication network includes a first network node delivering multicast data traffic to second network nodes. The first and second network nodes are connected by a transmission network in a ring architecture and implement a point-to-multipoint layer 2 protocol. A method includes at the first network node: collecting alarms signals indicative of a failure along the whole ring and of the second network nodes. Based on a current state of the alarm signals, delivering the multicast data traffic either in a first delivery direction along the ring, or in a second delivery direction along the ring opposite to the first delivery direction, or in both the first and second delivery directions. At each of the second network nodes: collecting alarm signals indicative of a failure of the transmission network locally to the second network node and of the second network node.
