  • Patent number: 11418365
Abstract: A system for automatically assigning sequential identification values to networked nodes, such as accessory modules within a storage and dispensing enclosure. The system includes a host controller communicating with client controllers via both a shared, multi-drop communications bus and an initial segment of a daisy-chained, point-to-point communications bus. The host controller issues a token to a first client controller via the point-to-point bus, then queries the client controllers, receives a reply from the client controller having the token (associating that controller with a sequential identification value), and commands passing of the token, each via the multi-drop bus. The client controllers receive the token and query via the respective busses and, if that controller has the token, reply to the query via the multi-drop bus, as well as receive the command and, if that controller has the token, pass the token via the point-to-point bus to a subsequent controller.

  • Patent number: 10587526
Abstract: Embodiments relate to systems and methods that facilitate coordination amongst host devices that share network resources in order to use available bandwidth effectively. Embodiments can ensure the host devices themselves take responsibility for sending their data via shared network bandwidth, keeping access to bandwidth fair to all the host devices. Embodiments also include adapting to a continuously changing network bandwidth allocation policy for the shared network resource. In one embodiment, this includes using tokens (e.g., small chunk messages) to represent a grant to a host device to send a specified number of bytes over the network. Using a token generator module and a distributed queue, embodiments provide a unique and adaptive way to manage data transmissions among host devices within available resources.

  • Patent number: 10292161
Abstract: Proposed is a method for determining transmission using a network allocation vector (NAV) in a wireless LAN system. Specifically, after a receiving device receives a trigger frame, which triggers an uplink multiple user transmission, from a transmitting device, whether to transmit an uplink physical layer protocol data unit (PPDU) corresponding to the trigger frame is determined using the NAV of the receiving device. In this case, if the NAV is established by an intra-basic service set (BSS) frame, whether to transmit the uplink PPDU is determined without taking the NAV into consideration.

Abstract: Methods of reassembling a mesh network which has been disrupted by the unavailability of a node or a link are disclosed. Nodes continuously receive beacon messages originating from a leader node. These beacon messages may be transmitted directly by the leader node, or may have been retransmitted by an intermediate node. When a node determines that it has not received a beacon message in a certain time period, it concludes that it is now disconnected from that leader node. At this point, it may choose to act as a leader node and form a new network, or may join with another network. The determination of which network to join may be based on some indicia associated with the leader node of that network.

Abstract: The invention relates to a device to be used in a wireless communication system with CSMA-based MAC, comprising transmitting circuitry for transmitting at least a first and a second RTS message and at least a first and a second data packet on a transmission medium, and a spatially selective antenna. It is further proposed that the device uses a distributed antenna that combines the antenna elements of several devices and that the device observes the transmissions of other devices, analyzes the observed transmissions for transmission patterns and adapts its own transmissions to the detected transmission patterns. The invention further relates to a system, a method and a computer program to be used in a wireless communication system.

Abstract: A service is disclosed for enabling web sites and other entities to provide item recommendations and other behavior-based content to end users. The service can be implemented as a web service that is remotely accessible over the Internet. Web sites use the web service's interface to report events descriptive of item-related actions performed by end users (e.g., item views, item purchases, searches for items, etc.). The web service analyzes the reported event data on an aggregated basis to detect various types of associations between particular items, and stores resulting datasets that map items to associated items. The web service's interface also provides various API calls for enabling the web sites to request item recommendations and other behavior-based content, including but not limited to personalized recommendations that are based on the event history of the target user. Advantageously, the web sites need not host the infrastructure for providing such content.

  • Patent number: 8275323
Abstract: A system including an activity sensing module to sense RF activity in first and second sub-channels of a communication channel of a first wireless network. N adjacent channel interference (ACI) filter modules arranged in parallel receive signals from N antennas, respectively, filter out signals in channels adjacent to the communication channel, and generate N filtered signals, respectively, where N>2. The activity sensing module generates control signals based on the N filtered signals. A channel identification module processes the control signals, and determines that both of the first and second sub-channels are available when the RF activity originating from a second wireless network is not present in both of the first and second sub-channels, and that the first sub-channel is available when the RF activity originating from the second wireless network is present only in the second sub-channel and is less than or equal to a predetermined threshold.

Abstract: The Fibre Channel standard was created by the American National Standard for Information Systems (ANSI) X3T11 task group to define a serial I/O channel for interconnecting a number of heterogeneous peripheral devices to computer systems as well as interconnecting the computer systems themselves through optical fiber and copper media at gigabit speeds (i.e., one billion bits per second). Multiple protocols such as SCSI (Small Computer Serial Interface), IP (Internet Protocol), HIPPI, ATM (Asynchronous Transfer Mode) among others can concurrently utilize the same media when mapped over Fibre Channel. A Fibre Channel Fabric is an entity which transmits Fibre Channel frames between connected Node Ports. The Fibre Channel fabric routes the frames based on the destination address as well as other information embedded in the Fibre Channel frame header. Node Ports are attached to the Fibre Channel Fabric through links.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for Fibre Channel interconnection is provided between a plurality of private loop devices through a Fibre Channel private loop device interconnect system. In the preferred embodiments, the Fibre Channel private loop device interconnect system is a fabric or an intelligent bridging hub. In one aspect of this invention, a Fibre Channel private loop device is connected to two or more Arbitrated Loops containing, or adapted to contain, one or more private loop devices. Preferably, the interconnect system includes a routing filter to filter incoming Arbitrated Loop physical addresses (ALPAs) to determine which Fibre Channel frames must attempt to be routed through the fabric. Numerous topologies of interconnect systems may be achieved.

Abstract: A system involves a plurality of RF-enabled occupancy detectors. Each occupancy detector communicates with and controls an associated plurality of RF-enabled fluorescent lamp starter units. A network master has an RF transceiver used to communicate with the occupancy detectors using a first protocol, thereby retrieving status information from the starter units. The network master also has a second RF transceiver for communicating directly with a cellular telephone using a second protocol. A user can use the cellular telephone to control and interact with the lighting system through the network master, and/or to retrieve status information from the network master. The network master automatically generates and sends email alerts to the user by sending the alerts to an email server. The email server forwards the emails to the cellular telephone via a cellular telephone network. Alerts may, for example, indicate a low battery voltage condition or that a lamp needs replacement.
