  • Patent number: 9961167
Abstract: Embodiments of the apparatus for modifying packet headers relate to a rewrite engine that represents each protocol header of packets in a generic format specific to that protocol to enable programmable modifications of packets, resulting in hardware and software flexibility in modifying packet headers. Software programs generic formats in a hardware table for various protocols. The rewrite engine is able to detect missing fields from a protocol header and is able to expand the protocol header to a maximum size such that the protocol header contains all possible fields of that protocol. Each of the fields has the same offset irrespective of which variation of the protocol the protocol header corresponds to. In a bit vector, all newly added fields are marked invalid (represented by 0), and all existing fields are marked valid (represented by 1). Software modification commands allow data to be replaced, removed and inserted.

  • Patent number: 9954639
Abstract: The present invention provides a method for controlling transmission of a signal between a transmitter and a receiver during a phase of change of a signal data rate. The method comprises, when the change is requested, informing the transmitter and receiver of a start of a transition phase. The transmitter retransmits the signal N times, with N?1, in identical signal parts having a chosen length. The receiver stores the N retransmitted identical signal parts successively received to combine them together to produce a combined signal part, and to temporarily output these combined signal parts with an auxiliary data rate depending on N and on this signal part length. The transmitter and the receiver are informed of the end of the transition phase when the signal data rate change is finished.

Abstract: A method includes each switch in a network maintaining a forwarding database table in which each record identifies a media access control (MAC) address, a port identifier, and a source identifier. A frame is received from a first network device at a first port of a first switch, wherein the frame includes a MAC address of the first network device. The first switch prepares a synchronization packet including the MAC address, a port identifier identifying the first port, a source identifier identifying the first switch and an instruction, in response to determining that the MAC address is not associated with the first switch in the first forwarding database table. The synchronization packet is sent to each other switch, and the forwarding database tables of the other switches are modified to implement the instruction.

  • Patent number: 9763282
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for a WTRU to operate using multiple schedulers. The WTRU may exchange data with the network over more than one data path, such that each data path may use a radio interface connected to a different network node and each node may be associated with an independent scheduler. For example, a WTRU may establish a RRC connection between the WTRU and a network. The RRC connection may establish a first radio interface between the WTRU and a first serving site of the network and a second radio interface between the WTRU and a second serving site of the network. The RRC connection may be established between the WTRU and the MeNB and a control function may be established between the WTRU and the SCeNB. The WTRU may receive data from the network over the first radio interface or the second radio interface.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a system operable to enable shortest connection roué for a mobile means of a subscriber, when the mobile means has roamed between a home network comprised in the system, and a foreign network comprised in the system. When the mobile means requests connection to Internet, a serving means comprised in the foreign network is operable to communicate with, and to receive information regarding the connection route from, a Home Location Register comprised in the home network. The serving means is operable to route a packet to a gateway means comprised in the foreign network. The gateway means is in turn operable to allocate an IP address for the mobile means and to function as an access point to Internet.

  • Patent number: 9743162
Abstract: Provided is an OTN traffic management method of a traffic management apparatus included in an OTN line card that accepts OTN traffic and transmits the OTN traffic to a multilayer-integrated fabric switch; or accepts traffic, in units of cells, from the multilayer-integrated fabric switch and transmits, to a network, the OTN traffic that the OTN line card generates. The OTN traffic management method includes restoring a received Interlaken packet to an OTN frame; adding an ITMOH that contains information about an ODU payload size to the OTN frame; converting the OTN frame, to which the ITMOH has been added, into to fabric cell by further adding a fabric overhead; and transmitting the fabric cell to the multilayer-integrated fabric switch.

  • Patent number: 9742495
Abstract: Disclosed are techniques for timing correction for a DOCSIS Edge-QAM. Unlike the DTI required at the headend in existing solutions for DOCSIS Edge-QAM timing, the disclosed techniques may use an Edge-QAM timing deeper in to the network. The N-QAM, referring to an Edge-QAM that is deeper in the network, may be in the optical node configured to convert signals from a network headend or hub for delivery to a subscriber network element. The N-QAM device located in the node may include a local clock for deriving a local time for incoming transport streams, modulating the transport streams onto a downstream carrier for delivery to subscriber network elements using the local clock time, and adjusting the local clock time based on an average value of timestamps in the incoming transport streams.

  • Patent number: 9742905
Abstract: The present disclosure generally pertains to systems and methods for communicating data. In one exemplary embodiment, a system has a high-speed channel, such as an optical fiber, between a network facility, such as a central office (CO), and a first intermediate point between the network facility and a plurality of customer premises (CP). Digital communication links, such as DSL links, are used to carry data between the first intermediate point, such as a feeder distribution interface (FDI), and a second intermediate point, such as the Distribution Point (DP). Non-shared links may then carry the data from the second intermediate point to the CPs. The links between the two intermediate points are bonded to create a high-speed, shared data channel that permits peak data rates much greater than what would be achievable without bonding. In some embodiments, multicast data flows may be prioritized and transmitted across a set of connections to each of the intermediate points.

  • Patent number: 9736318
Abstract: Responsive to determining to transition a voice call from voice communications over a voice network to streamed text over a packetized data network, a voice conversation correlation identifier is created that identifies the voice call and specifies incoming and outgoing streamed text data as part of the voice call. Additional outgoing speech spoken by a user associated with the voice call is converted to streamed text data. The streamed text data identified by the voice conversation correlation identifier is sent within an outgoing text stream over the packetized data network. Streamed response text data identified by the voice conversation correlation identifier is received within an incoming text stream over the packetized data network. The received streamed response text data within the incoming text stream is converted to speech output as part of the voice call.

  • Patent number: 9730215
Abstract: Interfacing according to a common public radio interface in a base station in a mobile communication system is described. The interfacing comprises a conversion process for rate-converting legacy data samples. First a predetermined number of the legacy data samples is converted to frequency samples in a frequency domain, then the frequency samples are zero padded to extend the frequency range according to a related sample rate of a 4G data format and then converted into a number of data samples of the related sample rate. The related sample rate is a multiplication of S/K times a basic frame rate of the 4G data format, S samples being allocated to K frames, K and S being integers and K being 8 or less. Advantageously large buffers for allocating a large number of legacy samples to 4G frames are avoided.
