Abstract: One or more processing operations with respect to a packet are performed at a packet processing node of a network device, the packet processing node configured to perform multiple different processing operations with respect to the packet. A first accelerator engine is triggered for performing a first additional processing operation with respect to the packet. The first additional processing operation constitutes an operation that is different from the multiple different processing operations that the packet processing node is configured to perform. The first additional processing operation is performed by the first accelerator engine. Concurrently with performing the first additional processing operation at the first accelerator engine, at least a portion of a second additional processing operation with respect to the packet is performed by the packet processing node, the second additional processing operation not dependent on a result of the first additional processing operation.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for controlling a present service charging session for charging service usage in a communication network. The method comprises receiving a first request for grant of a reservation service unit quota from a charging client, the first request including at least data identifying an account to charge for the service usage. A first granted service unit quota for the first request is determined and a first carry-over service units quota from a previous service charging session associated with the identified account is accessed. A first reservation service unit quota is determined by deducting the first carry-over service units quota from the first granted service unit quota. According to the method it is reserved for the first reservation service unit quota from the account and the first granted service unit quota is sent to the charging client.

Abstract: Some embodiments provide a set of one or more network controllers that communicates with a wide range of devices, ranging from switches to appliances such as firewalls, load balancers, etc. The set of network controllers communicates with such devices to connect them to its managed virtual networks. The set of network controllers can define each virtual network through software switches and/or software appliances. To extend the control beyond software network elements, some embodiments implement a database server on each dedicated hardware. The set of network controllers accesses the database server to send management data. The hardware then translates the management data to connect to a managed virtual network.

  • Patent number: 9456390
Abstract: A method and apparatus for maintaining service continuity for User Equipment accessing an IP Multimedia Subsystem communication network. A routing identifier is established that identifies a Service Centralization and Continuity Application Server allocated to the User Equipment. The routing identifier is sent to the User Equipment. In the event of disruption to the service between the User Equipment and the Service Centralization and Continuity Application Server, a handover message is sent from the User Equipment via a Circuit Switched access network. The handover message includes the routing identifier, and is then forwarded to the identified Service Centralization and Continuity Application Server. This allows the same Service Centralization and Continuity Application Server to be used after the handover as was used before the handover, thereby providing service continuity.

Abstract: Implementations of the present disclosure involve systems and methods for federating communications between a first network that transmits and receives messages formatted in a first format and a second network that transmits and receives messages formatted in a second format. The systems and methods are configured to receive a message from the first network formatted in the first format. The system then converts the message into a unified format that may be sent to the second network. After receiving the message in the unified format, the message may then be converted into the format of the second network and sent on the second network like any other message on the second network.

Abstract: In a system and method for a thin-client terminal system having a local screen buffer using a serial bus, a serial bus interface device receives encoded data from a thin-client server system. The serial bus interface device decodes the encoded data according to a serial bus data format and provides the decoded data to a thin-client control system. The thin-client control system distributes the decoded data for processing to a video processing system, an audio processing system, and an input/output control system. The thin-client control system also receives input data from input devices connected to the thin-client terminal system. The input data is processed and encoded according to the serial bus data format for transmission to the thin-client server system.

Abstract: A multi-port L2 to L7 switch may be implemented using multi-port switch building blocks such as a multi-port intelligent network interface card (NIC), without necessitating a dedicated switch. It is, for example, possible to build a 16-node switched interconnect from 16 4-port building blocks. Such a multi-port L2 to L7 switch may be used as a storage/compute cluster interconnect, where it replaces one or more external switches. The multi-port switch may utilize routing protocols such as IS-IS and OSPF. It may further support ACL, TCP proxy (L4 switching), iSCSI switching (L7 switching), and multi-function gateway capability, translating between different protocols such as iSCSI/FCoE/FC/SAS, etc.
