  • Patent number: 9392034
Abstract: The embodiments described herein recite a telephone communication system used for handling information such as messages, typically voice mail messages, and, more particularly, is directed to a system that provides distributed session initiation protocol (SIP) silos. Distributed SIP silos (DSS) is a Communications Application Platform (CAP) feature that maintains the site's call capacity even when a signaling server fails. DSS uses multiple non-redundant signaling servers to provide SIP signaling for the same set of media ports. Because there are multiple signaling servers providing signaling for the same set of ports, the failure of one signaling server only terminates the calls it was actively processing and once those calls have been cleaned up, all the available (non-suspended) ports in the configuration are available to the remaining signaling servers.

  • Patent number: 9363692
Abstract: A method for operating a data processing system to determine the operational parameters of a communication system between an REC and an RE that utilizes a CPRI data link for communication. The data processing system is synchronized with the CPRI frames and determines a plurality of CPRI frame characteristics from the CPRI frames by examining a plurality of predetermined locations in the CPRI frames. The plurality of CPRI frame characteristics for one or more of the CPRI frames, and a first model of the communication system are used to generate a first broadcast frame that would be generated by the one or more CPRI frames if the first model accurately described the communication system. The first broadcast frame is tested to determine if the first broadcast frame is consistent with the first model. If the broadcast frame is inconsistent, a new model is chosen and the process repeated.

Abstract: The present invention provides methods and devices for implementing a Low Latency Ethernet (“LLE”) solution, also referred to herein as a Data Center Ethernet (“DCE”) solution, which simplifies the connectivity of data centers and provides a high bandwidth, low latency network for carrying Ethernet and storage traffic. Some aspects of the invention involve transforming FC frames into a format suitable for transport on an Ethernet. Some preferred implementations of the invention implement multiple virtual lanes (“VLs”) in a single physical connection of a data center or similar network. Some VLs are “drop” VLs, with Ethernet-like behavior, and others are “no-drop” lanes with FC-like behavior. Some preferred implementations of the invention provide guaranteed bandwidth based on credits and VL. Active buffer management allows for both high reliability and low latency while using small frame buffers. Preferably, the rules for active buffer management are different for drop and no drop VLs.

  • Patent number: 9148769
Abstract: A mobile device/UE identifies calls to or callbacks from a Public Safety Access Point (PSAP) in order to provide priority handling. When the UE does not detect that the call being made is an emergency call, then the network facilitates identification during call establishment of the emergency nature. The network identifies the call as emergency call in a SIP response by setting the Priority header to distinctive value (e.g., “emergency-call”) or the “P-Asserted-Identity to a distinctive value (e.g., urn:services:sos). When PSAP chooses to call back the mobile/UE, the mobile/UE can terminate any ongoing calls and accept this call from the PSAP and can disable other supplementary services (e.g., call waiting, three-way calling etc.) during the call. A P-Asserted-Identity of the incoming call is set to a distinctive location associated with PSAP (e.g., urn:services:sos). Alternatively, the incoming call has a Priority header set to a distinctive value (e.g., “emergency”, “emergency-callback”).

  • Patent number: 9124465
Abstract: Calls which fail in the ways described above will typically result in a server (GK, MGC, RS or Ps for example) in the network issuing a failure message. This message typically provides one of two options; call forwarding to a central answering position or call clearing. The message does not allow for any more intelligent decisions to be taken and information about the reason for failure is irretrievably lost. By enhancing the message with an indication of the reason for failure and an optional recommendation for handling, the processing of such failed calls may be improved. For example, a gateway which receives the failure message may simply act in the usual way and either forward or clear the call. However with the enhanced indication, it may instead choose to carry out alternative actions such as collect more digits and retry at end of dial. If overlap signalling is being provided and the IP cloud is not fully overlap compatible, the gateway might also do an overlap to en bloc conversion.
