Combining Or Distributing Information Via Code Word Channels Patents (Class 370/479)
  • Patent number: 11943630
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Some wireless communications systems may support dynamic spectrum sharing for multiple radio protocols, such as New Radio and Long Term Evolution. Systems may implement a number of techniques to improve spectrum use by user equipment in dynamically shared frequency spectrums. In some aspects, the network may assign a user equipment to a specific bandwidth part based on a rate matching capability of the user equipment. Additionally or alternatively, the network may activate a specific bandwidth part based on the frequency of handover for a user equipment. In some aspects, the network may support dual registration (e.g., registration in a same frequency spectrum using different radio protocols) for a user equipment operating on a dynamically shared spectrum. To reduce the control overhead for such a user equipment, the network may use a single control channel to schedule data for multiple radio protocols.

Abstract: Presented herein are methods and systems for providing network access at a slave node based on a signal transmitted by a master BTS. In one example, a pseudorandom code (PN code) selection is described, in which each slave node has a known associated time offset and data is transmitted with a PN code advanced by the known time offset and the propagation delay. Using an example slave base station transceiver architecture (or just slave node for short), the “traditional” BSC can be removed from at least one base station (e.g., “slave nodes”) and a master base station may be configured to control the signal being transmitted from each slave node. Each slave node then may transmit and receive RF signals. The master BTS head end may receive signal portions from the slave nodes and mobile devices, and combine them for relay back into the network.

Abstract: Aspects of the invention are directed to a transmit diversity method for use in a wireless terminal having a plurality of antennas and a wireless terminal configured to implement the method. The transmit diversity method includes using a different orthogonal sequence for each antenna, or group of antennas, for transmitting an uplink control channel from a wireless terminal to a base station. A first step of the method involves assigning at least one orthogonal sequence to one or more of the plurality of antennas, each of the plurality of antennas being assigned at least one orthogonal sequence. Once the orthogonal sequence is assigned, a further step involves scrambling a signal to be transmitted on the physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) using the at least one orthogonal sequence for each antenna thereby producing a scrambled PUCCH for transmission by each antenna. The scrambled PUCCH can then be transmitted on the plurality of antennas.

Abstract: In a closed-loop wireless communication system, a codebook-based feedback mechanism is provided where each codeword indicates a particular profile to be used to provide a target performance measure (e.g., bit error rate or spectral efficiency) for the transmission channel. This may be accomplished by using a multi-stage quantization process to construct the codewords as a plurality of transmission parameters specifying a MIMO transmission scheme, precoding vector or matrix, power allocation in space/time/frequency, modulation and channel code.

  • Patent number: 9001848
Abstract: A code-division multiplexing (CDM) system utilized in multi-channel (MC) front-end integrated circuits to significantly reduce the power consumption of such systems. The CDM system extends data compression advantages to uncorrelated and weakly correlated MC signals through the introduction of a new Multi-Channel Signal Binning and Multiplexing (MCSBM) method and architecture. The method achieves significant reductions in power consumption in comparison to a conventional time-division multiplexing quantizer, while adding only a modest amount of overhead and complexity. Systems and methods permit architects to fabricate MC integrated circuits with ultra low power consumption and small chip area. Another embodiment relates to the system's compressor organizing samples of the input signal in such a way that the downstream analog-to-digital converter quantizes the higher variance samples with a higher resolution compared to the resolution it uses to quantize other samples with lower variance.

Some embodiments utilize multiple code channels to transmit the voice frames. These embodiments include parallel multi-code embodiments, offset multi-code embodiments, and multi-user multi-code embodiments. Some embodiments utilize flexible carrier bandwidths systems that may utilize portions of spectrum that may not be big enough to fit a normal bandwidth waveform. Some embodiments transmit and receive a subset of subframes of voice frames received over flexible bandwidth code channels. In some embodiments, a subset of subframes based on a flexible bandwidth scaling factor of one or more flexible bandwidth code channels is transmitted. The receiver may decode the voice frame based on the received subset of subframes. An outer loop power control set-point may be adjusted to provide a predetermined frame error rate based on the number of transmitted subframes.
