Frame Or Bit Stream Justification Patents (Class 370/506)
  • Patent number: 11082199
Abstract: This application provides a data transmission method in an optical network and an optical network device. The method includes: obtaining, by a first device, first synchronization information from a first service data stream, and determining a to-be-transmitted service data stream; generating second synchronization information based on the first synchronization information; mapping the second synchronization information and the to-be-transmitted service data stream to an optical carrier container; and sending the optical carrier container. A second device receives the optical carrier container; obtains a second service data stream and third synchronization information from the optical carrier container through demapping; generates fourth synchronization information based on the third synchronization information; and inserts the fourth synchronization information into the second service data stream, to obtain a third service data stream. In this way, time synchronization precision is improved.

  • Patent number: 10972126
Abstract: A data compression method comprises encoding groups of data items by generating, for each group, header data comprising h-bits and a plurality of body portions each comprising b-bits and each body portion corresponding to a data item in the group. The value of h may be fixed for all groups and the value of b is fixed within a group, wherein the header data for a group comprises an indication of b for the body portions of that group. In various examples, b=0 and so there are no body portions. In examples where b is not equal to zero, a body data field is generated for each group by interleaving bits from the body portions corresponding to data items in the group. The resultant encoded data block, comprising the header data and, where present, the body data field can be written to memory.

Abstract: A retimer device is provided that includes an elasticity buffer, a receiver, and a controller. The elasticity buffer adds or subtracts data in the elasticity buffer to compensate for different bit rates of two devices to be connected over a link, where the retimer is positioned between the two devices on the link. The receiver receives a data stream to be sent between the two devices on the link. The controller determines, from the data stream, a modification to one or more characteristics of the link, and causes size of the elasticity buffer to be changed from a first size to a second size based on the modification.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described to enable synchronized encoding of streaming audio or video content between multiple encoders, in a manner that provides for seamlessly interchangeable encodings. Within a pool of encoders, each encoder can generate state information regarding its state of encoding, and share that state information with a controller. The control can compare the state information of the various encoders to determine whether a desynchronization has occurred. When a desynchronization does occur, such as due to intermittent network packet loss, the controller can determine an authoritative state for the pool, and instruct desynchronized encoders to resynchronize to the authoritative state, resulting in identical or interchangeable encoded content being output from each encoder of the pool.

Abstract: Channel trending, including determining a number of viewers watching a multimedia program, is achieved in a digital television network. Cached multimedia frames that correspond to portions of the multimedia program are maintained, for example, on a device located on an edge (i.e., in a network edge device) of the digital television network. In response to a request from a client device (e.g., a set-top box) to receive the multimedia program, cached multimedia frames are fed from the edge device to the client device. Upon a seamless transfer or handoff resulting in a simulcast replicator or multicast replicator providing further portions of the multimedia program, a signal (e.g., a simple network management protocol TRAP statement) is sent to a viewership statistic server for incrementing a counter.

Multiple comparators in the framer may operate in parallel to search for the FAW at different windows. This configuration can significantly reduce the comparator count and so the gate count as well as the chip area in a framer. Power consumption can be advantageously reduced as one comparator operating serially consumes less power than multiple comparators in parallel because less gate toggling is involved.

  • Patent number: 9626320
Abstract: A transmitter is configured to scale up a low bandwidth delivered by a first processing element to match a higher bandwidth associated with an interconnect. A receiver is configured to scale down the high bandwidth delivered by the interconnect to match the lower bandwidth associated with a second processing element. The first processing element and the second processing element may thus communicate with one another across the interconnect via the transmitter and the receiver, respectively, despite the bandwidth mismatch between those processing elements and the interconnect.

  • Patent number: 9325488
Abstract: An interpolator or decimator includes an elastic storage element in the signal path between first and second clock domains. The elastic element may, for example, be a FIFO which advantageously allows short term variation in sample clocks to be absorbed. A feedback mechanism controls a delta-sigma modulated modulo-N counter based sample clock generator. The elastic element combined with a delta-sigma modulator and counter creates a noise-shaped frequency lock loop without additional components, resulting in a much simplified interpolator and decimator.

  • Patent number: 9253110
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention provide a best-effort scheduled access method and system that enable nodes to request, and a hub to assign, tentative, but not committed, scheduled allocations, referred to as unscheduled bilink allocations, in which data traffic is transferred between the nodes and the hub on a best-effort basis. The tentative allocations will be available if the network of the hub still has enough bandwidth, but will be shifted or reduced otherwise. This invention unifies tentative and committed scheduled allocations in the same access framework, thereby facilitating access scheduling and offering access flexibility.

  • Patent number: 9054821
Abstract: An apparatus and a method for frequency locking are provided. The apparatus includes a phase-locked loop (PLL), a local clock generator, a data buffer unit and a control unit. The PLL locks the phase and the frequency of a radio frequency signal to generate a recovery clock signal and received data. The data buffer unit writes the received data into an elastic buffer of the data buffer unit according to the frequency of the recovery clock signal, and reads the received data from the elastic buffer according to the frequency of a local clock signal generated by the local clock generator. The control unit obtains a write-in address and a read-out address in the elastic buffer, and sends a control signal to the local clock generator for adjusting the frequency of the local clock signal according to relationship between the write-in address and the read-out address.
