  • Patent number: 10313295
Abstract: A system and method provides a computer-implemented messaging service. Users subscribe to message channels. A message queue buffers messages to a router. The router determines whether characteristics of a first message match criteria specified in subscription requests, and may route the first message to one or more sending agents based on modes of communication specified in the subscription service requests. The sending agent(s) generate a second message formatted for the specified modes of communication based on the first message. Message load balancing, message queuing, message routing, and message sending services may all be independently scaled to adjust for demand.

  • Patent number: 9848328
Abstract: A data channel transmission can be used to authenticate a voice channel transmission. An authentication server can authenticate the identity of one or more parties to a call where at least one of the parties to the call is using a mobile device. A PKI authentication methodology or other symmetric or asymmetric encryption/decryption methodology can be used in a mobile network environment to identify and authenticate a first user to a second user. The authentication request sent to the third party trusted server can be encrypted, signed and transmitted over a data channel (such as an internet connection or SMS or MMS connection), concurrent with the voice channel transmission. In response to validation by the third party trusted server, the third party trusted server can send an authentication indication to the second user's device, which can display identification information and other (optional) data associated with the first user.

  • Patent number: 9788163
Abstract: A method of increasing accuracy of location determination of mobile devices within a location-based subgroup starts with server receiving location data and proximity information from each of the mobile devices. Location data received from first mobile device includes first mobile device's fixed location. Proximity information received from first mobile device includes an identification of mobile devices within a proximity sensitivity radius of first mobile device's location. Server forms subgroup of mobile devices based on proximity information from each of the mobile devices. Subgroup may include first mobile device and mobile devices that have provided proximity information that identifies first mobile device are being within the proximity sensitivity radiuses of the mobile devices, respectively. Server may then refine the fixed location of the first mobile device, which includes identifying an intersection of the proximity sensor sensitivity of each of the mobile devices that are in subgroup.

Abstract: The present invention provides a system, method, and apparatus for managing the calling-party identification information offered to called parties. Accordingly, a caller can designate the Caller ID information to the called party based on the context of the call (e.g. the role of the caller) rather than the terminal used. Typically the calling party does this by selecting which of multiple values they wish to have sent with the call request. It is beneficial to implement such a mechanism in a secure manner—the ability to employ a different calling-number or calling-name ID should be restricted to properly-authorized and authenticated persons—in order to ensure the quality of this information. Accordingly, preferred embodiments include an authentication mechanism for verifying the calling party information is authentic.

  • Patent number: 8964951
Abstract: The present invention is related to telecommunications, and in particular to systems and methods of using telecommunication services for user authentication. Account information is stored for a user, the account information including at least a first phone number associated with the user. A user order is received. A verification phone call is received from the user, the call including charge phone number information. The charge number information is compared to the first phone number to authenticate that the user is associated with the first phone number. Based at least in part on the comparison, the user order is selectively caused to be fulfilled.

Abstract: A device may receive first identification information associated with a sending device. The first identification information may be provided by a receiving device, and may be associated with a request to establish a connection between the sending device and the receiving device. The device may receive a request to verify the first identification information. The device may determine, based on the request, second identification information identifying the sending device. The second identification information may be provided by the sending device, and may be associated with the request to establish the connection between the sending device and the receiving device. The device may compare the second identification information and the first identification information. The device may provide verification information indicating a result of the comparison.

  • Patent number: 8953762
Abstract: A telephone system for enhanced privacy management includes a telephone switch, a rejected call handler, a user preference database, and an internet app privacy manager, whereby an incoming call can be assigned to a calling class, and routed according to a calling rule associated with the calling class. Using an interactive voice response menu or an application portal, the user can assign callers to calling classes and specify call handling rules and schedules. A rejected call handler includes a voice interface, a switch control, a voicemail, interactive voice response, call progress simulator, in-message options, in-call options, post-call options, and other components. Further disclosed is a method for determining a calling rule, including determining the caller id status, querying a calling rules table, and determining a calling rule.

  • Patent number: 8948361
Abstract: Authentication of a user initiating a communication may be achieved using a visual indicator of the user. Initiation of a communication may result in the initiator of the communication collecting image data associated with the initiator's identity. Additionally, the initiator may be required to perform a task, wherein a response to the task may be transmitted with the image data to the receiver of the communication. The receipt of the image data may allow a receiver of the communication to reduce spam and verify that the initiator is who it purports to be.

Abstract: Methods for permitting a log in to a restricted access communications terminal are provided. In one aspect, a method includes receiving a request from a user to access a communications terminal, the request including a first authentication provided by the user, and verifying the first authentication provided by the user. The method also includes identifying the user based on the verified first authentication, determining, based on an actual location of the communications terminal, that the user is restricted from accessing the communications terminal, and requesting a second authentication from the user when the user is attempting to access the communications terminal from an unauthorized or undocumented location. The method further includes receiving the second authentication from the user, verifying the second authentication provided by the user, and providing access to the user to the communications terminal based on the verified second authentication.

Abstract: The present invention allows for dynamic association of a computational device, such as a personal computer or personal digital assistant, with a telephone terminal. A computer-telephone adaptor or like function implemented in a telephony switch or other telephony device will receive authentication indicia. The authentication indicia may be provided by the computational device that is to be associated with the telephone terminal, or through other means. The authentication indicia may be provided by a user or generated by the computational device or by other means. To confirm the association, the user must enter confirmatory authentication indicia corresponding to the original authentication indicia through the telephone terminal.
