Abstract: Embodiments provide system and methods for a DDoS service using a mix of mitigation systems (also called scrubbing centers) and non-mitigation systems. The non-mitigation systems are less expensive and thus can be placed at or near a customer's network resource (e.g., a computer, cluster of computers, or entire network). Under normal conditions, traffic for a customer's resource can go through a mitigation system or a non-mitigation system. When an attack is detected, traffic that would have otherwise gone through a non-mitigation system is re-routed to a mitigation system. Thus, the non-mitigation systems can be used to reduce latency and provide more efficient access to the customer's network resource during normal conditions. Since the non-mitigation servers are not equipped to respond to an attack, the non-mitigation systems are not used during an attack, thereby still providing protection to the customer network resource using the mitigation systems.

Abstract: In order to confirm that a telephone call received by a network termination on a first connection is from a trusted party, the called party connects over a second, independent, connection 7 to a server associated with the trusted party and shares a code with the server. That code is then transmitted over the first connection and, if the connection is genuine, it is intercepted by the server which generates a message over the second connection confirming that the code has been matched. This gives the called party assurance that the call is from a party associated with the trusted server. If a rogue caller attempts to call the termination, the called party's transmission of the shared code will be routed over the caller's connection, which is not associated with the trusted server, so no match will be identified by the server and no confirmation is returned over the second connection.

Abstract: Systems and methods for utilizing customer data in a communication system are provided. In exemplary embodiments, customer records at a customer data warehousing system are accessed. Customer data from the customer records are extracted and associated with a customer identifier. The customer data is then stored to an indexed database, the extracted customer data being indexed according to the identifier. When an incoming communication is received, the communication system will determine a communication identifier of the incoming communication. A lookup and matching process is then performed using the communication identifier in the indexed customer information database. If a matching customer identifier is found, associated customer data may be retrieved and used to provide enhanced communication system services including communication routing and customer data alerts.
Abstract: Concepts and technologies are disclosed herein for screening and selectively blocking private calls. A processor executing instructions associated with a private call blocking service can detect a call from a calling device directed to a called device. The processor can determine that the call has a caller identification blocking marker indicating that a fixed label should be provided to the called device to prevent the called device from presenting caller identification data associated with the calling device. In response to determining that the call has the caller identification blocking marker, the processor can obtain a custom private caller identification mask instead of the fixed label. The processor can provide the custom private caller identification mask to the called device for the call, where the custom private caller identification mask can be presented to a called party associated with the called device without revealing the caller identification data.

Abstract: Optimizing a number pool for dynamic number insertion (DNI) used for call attribution is achieved by considering physical characteristics of the DNI number assigned to a specific channel versus characteristics of consumers within that channel—such as by identifying more optimum DNI number characteristics and modifying a DNI number pool based on the more optimum DNI number characteristics—in order to make more optimized DNI number assignments.
Abstract: An automated scanning service can be configured to dynamically determine potential firewall misconfigurations in a shared resource environment. The scanning service can interrogate one or more application programming interfaces (APIs) to determine the state of the relevant firewall ports. For each firewall port in a permitted state, a test or trace can be run to determine whether the corresponding host port is open. Similarly, information can be obtained indicating which host ports for the allocation are open, and a determination can be made as to whether the corresponding firewall ports are permitted. Once the determinations are made, any mismatch in port state can be reported as a potential misconfiguration.
Abstract: Optimizing a number pool for dynamic number insertion (DNI) used for call attribution is achieved by considering physical characteristics of the DNI number assigned to a specific channel versus characteristics of consumers within that channel—such as by determining a plurality of distinguishable consumer parameters having a business-positive correlation to a subset of numbers from among the pool of numbers—in order to make more optimized DNI number assignments.
